Installing external insulation on single skin wall in garage

We have a single skin blockwork wall between our utility room and integral garage. I want to add insulation to the garage side of the wall to bring this up to Building Regs. From research the method of insulating externally is to bond PIR insulation to the wall, then add a mesh and finishing...

To cavity or not to cavity? New wall above solid wall

The foundations and wall will be checked as part of the work (but highly likely not to be an issue). Cannot do external insulation as it has to match existing brick. My question is how to build up the wall to receive the cavity as that is what I would like to do. Any helpful suggestions from...

    faulty mcb -light circuit

The switch was plastic as the old one, just new. The wires were both red and connected correctly. There was no trip before the switch was replaced and now the MCB has let me reset it (after an hours wait), the system has not tripped since. All lights on the ground floor have been used and it has...

    answered without picking up phone

Thanks all. Couldnt find where the ring wire was shorting on the extension so resorted to fitting a new master socket on the extension and only using the two speech wires. Job done. There is a good website which explains the potential issues and investigating them...

It is a cavity wall which has been filled so dont want to pull the duct out in case all the filling comes out (also it wouldnt budge when I tried). Doing the work from...
