low level toilet with waste into floor - replace with one closer to wall

Thanks so much for the advice and suggestions. the toilet will be on a 1.8m wall on its own so I guess there is no issue putting cupboards behind the toilet. Actually, that's not a bad idea! so I could hid the cistern I just don't want it to jut out into the middle of the bathroom too much. its...

New gas feed from outside meter - cost

Thanks @muggles. Good points. I didn’t add enough info. My flat is first floor of a 2 floor maisonette and is in Teddington in south west London. My meter is next to my external front door in my garden. A new feed can go from the meter directly vertical into the loft. I would guess that the...

New gas feed from outside meter - cost

Hi, I have a 60s maisonette with a concrete floor. The main gas feed comes out of the floor in a cupboard in the centre of my flat where it originally fed a warm air central heating. I’ve had a new boiler installed in the loft and the gas pipe is fed into the loft to feed the new boiler. I...

2 way hall light circuit - confusing

I worked it out. I realised the link between the two COMs in the double switch was the neutral to one end of the two way switch and the single grey cable must be the live. Once I cabled the wires up correctly in the junction box it all worked. Thanks for your help and advice @terryplumb.

Hi, I have 2 lights in my hall of my 1st floor maisonette. The one at the top of the stairs is fed of a standard switch. The one at the bottom of the stairs is a two way with a switch at the top and one at the bottom. I have replaced the light at the top of the stairs with some downlighters...

    moving a distribution box

Hi, I have a distribution box inside a cupboard. I would like to have it replaced with a better brand (its currently a Wickes own brand) and a model that is embedded in a wall. I would also like to have the feed extended to have it installed on a different wall of the same cupboard. The various...

Accuracy of Vaillant vSmart internet temperature

I was also looking at the VRC700 but I cant find out if it has smart home features such as working with IFTTT etc. vSmart does but not sure about the VRC700. That would be the perfect solution if it did as it also has a physical weather sensor and an app.

Accuracy of Vaillant vSmart internet temperature

hi all, I am thinking about replacing My Vailant VRC470 with a Vaillant vSmart controller but I am concerned that the WC I have at the moment using a sensor on the north face of my property is far more accurate than the general weather data derived from the internet that the vSmart uses. Am I...

Connecting Owl Intuition cw to Vaillant EcoTec boiler

Hi Oldskoolskater. Sorry for the late reply, I don’t remember this site telling me I had a response to my posting. As yet I still have the VRC470. I could get the vsmart but as far as I know it uses internet based weather metrics rather than a more accurate sensor on the north face of the house...

Water from hot tap takes 30 secs to get hot using water tank

Thanks so much for all the great advice guys. This helps a lot. I'll try all the suggestions here. I'll try to work out the length of the hot water pipes to the sinks and using their diameter to work out the volume. One question, the pressure accumulator only seems to be feeding the hot water...

Water from hot tap takes 30 secs to get hot using water tank

Thanks for all the feedback guys and sorry for not being more descriptive in my posts. I have a 612 to feed the rads for CH and to keep the water tank at the right temp. I was sold this type by my plumber/heating eng as he said it's a better system that uses less gas and a system which could...
