Best type of underlay for chipboard subfloor?

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. Yeah, In the end I went for a roll of basic 3mm underlay from Screwfix. Think it's called Accoustalay. There's no DPM, and it supposedly reduces noise slightly. Cheap and cheerful, seems to have done the job nicely. Cheers, Andy

Best type of underlay for chipboard subfloor?

Hi, I'm about to lay some laminate in two rooms (nursery and an office) and wanted to ask you guys what type of underlay you think will be best to use for rooms like this. Neither room will get a lot of traffic. Both rooms are upstairs. Both rooms have chipboard sub-floors and look pretty...

    Central Heating Quotes

Quick update on this - we got a quote offering to do the work for £4400, and we accepted it back in October. The work was done within a month and we're very happy with it. It would probably have been cheaper if we'd done it in the middle of summer instead of the start of winter, but we didn't...

    Joining LED driver to mains

Well, i'm going to get started soon, but before I do I thought it was worth checking if anyone could advise whether this was a good idea or not? I guess it's a little unusual to be fair. If anyone's got a much better idea though, any suggestions would be very gratefully received :) Cheers

    Joining LED driver to mains

Hi, I've recently had an electrician round to fit a new circuit for me in to my bathroom ceiling. I didn't have the LED lights at the time, but they have since arrived and I now want to connect them up. Both the LED driver and the LED strip lights are IP67 waterproof, and I need to make my...

    21mm copper pipe ??

Yes, I suspect you are correct there. As I say, I think i was lucky to get away with it for so long to be honest. Soon as I realised what was going on (when I put a 22mm olive on and realised how loose it was) I bought a 3/4" to 22mm coupler to sort it out. I was amazed it had managed to last...

    21mm copper pipe ??

    yeah, that's why i said i wouldn't do it deliberately :)

    21mm copper pipe ??

This isn't true. As a complete amateur I've actually had a push fit (speedfit) 22mm isolation valve on a 3/4 pipe for 2 months without realising and it didn't blow off. It was only when I went to put on a 22mm compression isolation valve that I realised I was dealing with old 3/4 pipe. I felt...

Connecting new bath and shower with speedfit / copper

Hi squeaky, I should have clarified, I've done all the tiling - except for the final half-row above the bath - so that i can tile down on to it after it's fitted :) Cheers, Andy

Connecting new bath and shower with speedfit / copper

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah - I think I might try using soldered joints for everything other than the bath side taps and see how it goes. If I'm not competent enough I'll probably opt for the speedfit route. Either way, I think I'll have to stick with speedfit for the side-mounted bath...

Connecting new bath and shower with speedfit / copper

Hi, up until 5 months ago we had an electric immersion boiler upstairs, and a separate cold water tank in the loft. We had central heating fitted in November and we've now got a combi-boiler and no separate storage tanks. Unfortunately though, I'm not in a position to change the cold/hot feeds...

Connecting new bath and shower with speedfit / copper

Hi, thanks for your reply. Yes, the room has a 15mm cold / 22mm hot feed. I'm not sure why, but this is just how i found it when I bought the house a couple of years ago. Also - I've uploaded the pics somewhere else. Hopefully you can see them now? :) Cheers, Andy

Connecting new bath and shower with speedfit / copper

Hi guys, Hoping someone here can help :) I'm currently in the middle of refurbishing our bathroom and I've now finished all of the tiling / flooring / ceiling / etc, and I'm ready to start fitting the bath/shower/sink/ toilet in to a room which is pretty much bare. At present, I've...

To match, or not to match grout lines!

Hi Guys, I'm having a bit of a dilemma at the moment deciding what to do about the tiles in our bathroom, and I'm hoping someone here can help! We have bought two sets of tiles, because we planned on doing a 'feature' wall on the front sink/toilet facing wall. We've got black polished...
