With the advent of LEDs many of the older Christmas light sets become redundant as replacement bulbs become impossible to find. :(
I am sure there are many people like me who have a treasured set that needs just one new bulb to bring it back to lfe. :?
Does anyone know of a website...
Having just moved home, the TV aerial socket is on an outside wall and the only place for the TV is across the other side of the room. :(
Is there such a thing as a TV signal transmitter which will enable me to avoid the major task off lifting carpets and floorboards to cross the room? :D
Right Guys, reporting back as promised!
I removed the gate valve, and it looked fine with no scaling, but then . . . :o
The winner is Kev, with his second comment that the valve never worked properly when installed.
I had removed the valve in the open position...
Thanks for all the replies so far. Your comments are much appreciated!
The collective opinion seems to be that the gate valve is, as kev put it in his first post, 'kerry packered'!
I will change it over the weekend and report back on my findings.

If you have experienced this I would be interested to know.
Nope!
I'm a Chartered Engineer, and all gate valves in the house are moved regularly to avoid scaling up. If a gate valve is fitted in a verical run the design is so simple the only thing that can go wrong is scaling, if it has not been moved for many years.
Appreciate the comment.

About to fit new valve and ball float to the bathroom toilet and find I cannot isolate the water supply. Supply is from the storage tank in the loft with an isolating gate valve in the airing cupboard. Strangely ?, with this turned off the water still runs, and with all other taps open there is...
One of the 400 x 400 paving stones on my terrace has sunk slightly. Is there an easy way of lifting it so that it can be relaid? I don't want to break it up as I cannot get a replacement.
