Thanks for the reply. How do you attach the felt without using nails? We built a smaller shed at the same time that doesn't show this problem, but the log cabin is in direct sunlight all day long so I guess this would cause more expansion and contraction?

We will have to remove one of them as it is where the garage will be built. The "Root Protection Areas" of the other two might reach the footings. So you think they might not ask for a tree survey even if the trees are within the development area?

Hello We are planning to build a detached garage on an area of land that has three large trees (about 15m tall). I think BS 5837 requires that we have a tree survey done. As the trees do not have TPOs and we are not in a conservation area, I think there is nothing to stop us having the trees...

Thanks for all your replies. It looks like our meter was made in 1968 and was last tested in 1988. As it is up to the provider when they replace the meter, I guess we will just have to wait for a smart meter (they said we would get one before 2020!).
