Timber Gable - gap between studs and vertical tiles

I think to answer my own question about restraint straps - the answer is 'yes'. This post looks really helpful: https://www.diynot.com/diy/threads/timber-frame-restraint-straps.506334/ (great screen grab at the bottom of a lateral restraint strap datasheet)

Timber Gable - gap between studs and vertical tiles

Thanks for the idea! I'm keen to avoid the gable end looking like this, but can understand why they did it. (Pic from Screech20 post 9Sept2013)

Timber Gable - gap between studs and vertical tiles

Yes, the SE has drawn up the supporting structure. It's doubled / tripled up 125mm studs forming part of this gable wall. He wasn't kind enough to design up to the tiles tho.

Any help greatly appreciated on this. New build in the planning. It has an EPDM flat roof dormer that meets a pitched roof with a few rows of plain tiles above and to the sides of the dormer. I can’t find any decent pics of the EPDM corner details where the flat roof meets the pitched roof...

Steel Fabricator - what do they do?

Planning a dormer loft conversion. Architect’s completed designs, planning okay and SE done their thing. Now I need to get a steel fabricator onboard. Never used these before and don’t know what to expect. Some of the steels need to be a little intricate - cranked, under-slung connections etc...

Dormer membrane wrap - in window opening?

Thanks Woody, A post ages ago suggested siliconing the membrane to the structure at the return. Is that the done thing?

Dormer membrane wrap - in window opening?

Hi everyone. Putting up a timber framed dormer. Wrapping with a breather membrane. Should the membrane be cut & pulled though the window opening, installing the window ‘over the top’ of the membrane? Or should the membrane be trimmed around the exterior of the window opening? Many thanks!
