Possibly. He has said it was due to having one switch to turn off two separate wall lights. And the fitting on the individual lights is very tight on the final fix

Thanks Wayners. The power is off currently anyway as having a rewire. The sparky is coming in the morning to take a look after I called him to be sure. If it is a junction box it will be annoying as its a new cable! But I guess will need to be done.

Thanks CountryFan. I agree that area is too congested and not a great location. I am looking into blocking it off and starting from scratch further up the wall which is near the kitchen sink area and the mains supply.

Wow ok thank you for these comments. Its been like this since we brought the property 20 years ago! Inside it is just fed off a connection just before the toilet pipe as in pic. Ok I think a bit of work required here then which may be outside of my skillet. Thanks again for the responses!
