Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

That's fantastic, thanks John. Will get it purchased and tools hired! The manual for the tumble dryer I'm looking at itself doesn't actually mention vent pipe elevation at all and what's more on the diagram it's installed above the tumble dryer's height, so at least if there are any issues I...

Can anyone advise or point me to somewhere with more detailed info on dryers? Thanks

Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

Oh yeah, I had noticed the earth cable before, it's just a small roll of spare cable.

Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

Hadn't noticed that! I'll check it out. Thought people would comment on the random plank with the bared earth wire running down it in the last photo or the many seemingly pointless wires ran through the air brick if anything... Only just took real notice of this after taking the pictures...

Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

The buying guides I've read all said they need to be in a well ventilated room. Which say bad ones can kick out damp and pose a potential mildew risk http://www.which.co.uk/home-and-garden/laundry-and-cleaning/guides/how-to-buy-the-best-tumble-dryer/tumble-dryer-types/ I'm terrified of...

Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

Thanks for that, would it be enough water to be problematic? The reason I wanted to avoid a condensing boiler was because I was concerned about adding anymore moisture to the air down there, I figured a vented one would remove it from the equation and be healthier.

Installing a vented tumble dryer / Ducting

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone could help me, I'm wanting to put a tumble dryer in my cellar but I've a few queries; 1) Firstly, whether I'll be able to put the outlet where I want. See pictures (and excuse the mess on the inside, I'm tending to the cellar next); as you view the house...

Wiring two single sockets side by side

Fantastic thanks for the clarification - didn't think it could be as simple as that!

Wiring two single sockets side by side

Hi, thanks for all the replies - sorry to highlight just one. It is indeed a backbox as pictured above, fitting a new back box is not an option at the moment. I had thought about fitting an FCU and it sounds like the most straight forward rout unless I misunderstood point #1 Thanks,

Wiring two single sockets side by side

Hi All, I have a two single sockets side by side, one is a ring main with two spurs coming off it, one to the single socket directly next to it (double flush backbox) and another to a double socket a few metres away. I don't see this being much different from a ring main double socket with...

Swapping from a gas hob to an electric ceramic hob

The manufacturer does say they are allowed , I remember the gasman pointing this out but advising to go hard-piped, looks like he's also fitted an isolator which makes it very tempting to turn off and remove the hob so I can prep the worktop with plenty of time. But ho-hum if it's dangerous...

Swapping from a gas hob to an electric ceramic hob

Bugger, it previously looked like that but the gasman changed it when I did the kitchen so it was hard piped, unless it's more to do with the connection to the hob than the material of the piping?

Swapping from a gas hob to an electric ceramic hob

Quick way to tell if it's a bayonet fitting? I can upload a picture but I have a nasty feeling that used to be the case but isn't any longer.

Swapping from a gas hob to an electric ceramic hob

Very well spotted / thought out! Annoying as it's one that I found most attractive. What I've found is my current cutout is 55cm x 48cm, it's quite an old stainless hob (brand begins with b but escapes me, not bosch or beko). Ideally I want something I can drop in as the gas man will only...

    Replacing kitchen ceiling

That picture's a year old, it's been corrected since My father fitted the strip, I didn't have the heart to tell him. I'm swapping the hob, but the hob I fancy is slightly bigger than the existing (10 mm) can anyone recommend the best way of opening it up with the worktop in situ?
