    Time Limits

No complaints have been made, I think it must have been brought to the Conservation Officer attention when the next door neighbor applied to have work done. The Enforcement Officer states that it has just come to his notice, he ignores the fact that the council have in their own files pictures...

    Time Limits

Thank you all for your replies, this really is a case of "buyer beware". when I first looked through my grandsons files post Enforcement action, I could find nothing that related to listed buildings, I also noticed that a FENSA certificate had been issued and copy not passed from seller to...

    Time Limits

My grandson is a part freeholder and part lease holder of a listed building. Within one month of taking occupancy he received a letter from the local Enforcement Officer stating it had just come to the Councils notice that UPVC windows have been installed and that he must make planning...

    Duplicate Posts & Hijacking

I have been found guilty of posting the same query regarding a sunken patio in the Building and in the Garden sections, I thought I would get the views from both sections, i.e builders and hard landscaping. Unfortunately the Building section which was producing the most views and information...

    Sunken Patio

Thank you for this information, after posting my query "in the garden" section I also posted the query in the "building" section as I thought perhaps it was more of a building project than a gardening one. I can see your point of view and I have observed a pond liner with gravel base and some...

    Sunken Patio

I have already posted this in the garden section but building might be more appropriate. My daughter lives in a flat area with a high water table level, on visiting her last September she had dug a rectangular hole in the garden 2ft deep, at first I thought she was excavating for a swimming...

    Sunken Patio

My daughter lives in a flat area with a high water table level, on visiting her last September she had dug a rectangular hole in the garden 2ft deep, at first I thought she was excavating for a swimming pool only to learn it was for a sunken patio and she had given no thought of water from above...

    Cooker Element Terminal.

Hi All, I seem to have had a run on replacing various elements in the cookers of family members. All different makes. One thing they all had in common was not surprisingly heated terminal connections some with crumbling heat resistant terminal covers and a sloppy fit on pushing back into...

hi can any one help please. My daughter had a new settee delivered and assembled in an upstairs room by Harveys, nedless to say she took no notice of how it was assembled. replacement elements

Thanks diyisfun, I take your point regarding wattage voltage , length of element, but the water tight mounting grommet and metal clamp plate seem to be of a standard size, the copy manufactured elements fit many washing machines mounting holes in the same way as hot water tank mounting is...

    replacement elements

I have taken the heating element out of a small commercial glass washer, it is shorting out, a replacement cost on average £50.00 plus vat etc. Googling for alternatives I have found very similar element heaters for Hotpoint Creda etc washing machines at around £10.00. but cannot find out if the...

    PIR ? light switch

Yes it has to be ceiling mounted, I have found a Pir on the TLC web site with a dome shape detector, and I am thinking of experimenting by sticking a cover over it with a punch hole to lessen the detection area. It might work. joe

    PIR ? light switch

Is there a light switching ceiling mounted gadget that will switch a light on when stepping into a circle of about a metre dia and switches off with little delay when stepping out of the circle. I know of ceiling mounted PIRs but the detection area they cover is too great for my purpose. Perhaps...
