Moss in the garden - how to deal with it?

Hello, We have lots of moss in the back garden. Can this indicate a drainage problem? The grass is a bit damp and springy, should I be concerned this could be a bigger issue in future. The picture below gives you a rough idea of what my back garden looks like. Thanks

Buying a new house - boiler and huge tank in the loft, should I be concerned?

Hello, The other half and I are looking to move into a new property, after a recent survey we've noticed the boiler in the loft with a huge cylinder tank (megaflo heatrae sadia) up there. It's a large house (5 bedrooms), when we checked the house warmed up well with all but 1 radiator on. The...

Fixing Bathroom Hot Water Tap - Leaking From Tap and Underneath

Thanks for the replies. I own the property, it's a new build (1980s) and it's coming up to the point where wear and tear/poor build quality is taking its toll! There are gate valves by the cylinder tank upstairs (see pic - the cylinder is behind the towels). Is one the feed into the tank and...

Fixing Bathroom Hot Water Tap - Leaking From Tap and Underneath

Hi, I have a hot water tap downstairs that's leaking. The boiler tank is upstairs and there's no isolation valve on the pipe underneath. The tap leaks from the tap opening itself, as well as from underneath. Underneath, the water simply trickles along the feed pipe and drops from the bend. The...

    Leaking conservatory roof

Managed to push it back in place and added some silicon for good measure - so far, so good (rained this morning, no leaks :) Thanks for the tips!

    Leaking conservatory roof

Quick update, I've checked with a ladder and it looks like the panel has slipped. Is it just a matter of removing the plastic trim, applying some silicon and putting it back? Also, I can only access via a ladder, no supporting buildings or lift. I'm 11st, would the frame be sturdy enough to...

    Leaking conservatory roof

Hi, I've recently noticed my conservatory roof has a small leak during heavy rain, we get a steady drip, drip, drip. The conservatory was in place when we moved in 10 years ago. Is this something that can be easily be fixed with some tape or similar? Zooming in, you can see the water drop lets...

Downstairs toilet leaking - overflow pipe

I believe so, I didn't want to overtighten it - I've tightened by hand to the point where I'm nearly forcing it.

Downstairs toilet leaking - overflow pipe

Exedon, I've had a look at the fluid master, looks good - it is easy to fit and are there lots of different sizes? Apologies, whilst I've done a bit of DIY, the biggest plumbing job I've done is bleed a radiator! £2 and 2 hours later, replaced the seal, adjusted the ballon screw several...

Downstairs toilet leaking - overflow pipe

Hi, I've got a downstairs toilet with an overflow pipe. When the cistern is full, there's still a small leak from the valve. I've tried adjusting the ballcock, but not luck. Taking a closer look, it looks like the seal in the valve has gone. Are these standard parts I can get from any DIY store...

Hot tap won't turn properly - spindle adapter broken (?)

Hi, I have a tap that has a small white plastic adapter (I think that's what it's called). The plastic clip has broken, this results in the hot tap not working - it just spins around on the spindle. I've tried to buy the small white clip which sits on top of the spindle and fits neatly into...

    Windshield Seal - Small Break

No water is coming in, it's just a break in the rubber, I'm concerned it'll get worse. There's no chipping or glass damage. I'm planning on just doing a patch job with some sealant. I'd rather not pay £230 for a new seal as the car is worth about £500!
