The set we have brought is just a streight into the mains job, no transformer or box. The lights do flash, but I belive it's the bulbs themselvs that do it. Thanks for all your help

Thanks for the replies. I had a look in our local B&Q & Homebase for a plugin ceiling rose, but couldn't find one, so I guess I'll have to get one off the net. The lights are currently connected via a 3amp fuse in the plug. I assume the plug in ceiling rose isn't fused...

No, but a lot easier to fit for me due to the layout of the house. I'm not really worried about it being convenent to be honest, Its no less convenent than it being a convential plug, and the fuse in the plug blowing and having to get up there.

Thats almost exactly what I was planning to do, but with the FCU in the loft too.
