....thanks for your reply Woody....I assume you're thinking to leave the middle unsupported for the least amount of time...makes sense I guess but then either the roof over the opening is either supported or it's not and it'll probably be easier to remove the original lintels before I block up...

I'm about to have kitchen and utility floors screeded but have not yet decided on exact ceramic tile but I need to set the height of the screed. Is there an average fitted thickness for ceramic floor tiles. Ones I've fitted in the past were I think about 8mm....with about 3mm of adhesive final...
