    Insulation under bath

Hi there, bathroom was noticeably cold with a draught, I took panel off and can see some gaps where pipework is. Upstairs bathroom. It looks like there is insulation under the floor boards but could I add insulation to the exposed area to mitigate the draught? Or is insulation under a bath a no...

    Odour from stack

Thank you for your time John. Its reassuring to know everything is as it should be, odour aside. No gap there, it is just the pipe coming up to receive pipe from toilet, pic attached during the work. Would taping the pipe help in anyway, at least see if it seals the odour?

    Odour from stack

Thanks John, sorry I wouldn't know. Odour happens outside of flushing, sometimes we come home and it's there. It smells like it comes from the stack (up close) but maybe any stack would smell if you get close enough to it

    Odour from stack

Thanks Hugh, there is just the toilet connected there. The toilet faces a sink and the washing machine is beside that, they go in the waste pipe under the sink at the start of the waste pipe. Toilet flushes and fills normally.

    Odour from stack

Hi there, we are getting odour from internal stack, it's a small utility,no leaks. Work done 2 years ago, was occasional but now more frequent. Had plumber out the first couple of times, insisted all is fine. I think (just from checking online) that the top of the stack should have an air...

    Upvc sash window stuck

Many thanks for replies. It does tilt inwards, I did it with a bit more force than I had been. I have wooden shutters and the frame for those doesn't allow it to tilt in so far that I could see inspect the edge fully. It does sound like that is the issue though as there in a problem getting it...

    Upvc sash window stuck

Hi, anyone have an idea of how to get this window open. It only opens a small bit and not as far as the sash restrictors. There are 2 knobs, pic shows one in place and one screwed out. The hole left of the one screwed out doesn't look as if it was done at manufacture, seems a bit untidy. These 2...

    Plate Heat Exchanger keeps failing

Hi Muggles, can I ask how Combicare product would contribute to the problem. Plumber and Valliant both been out. Plumber says it's a good product and has never had an issue. Valliant says it's not a boiler issue and he has worked the area for years and it's not a common issue. Previous boiler...

    Plate Heat Exchanger keeps failing

Thanks Bob, was changed in Dec as part of first annual service. Maybe a faulty one fitted or badly fitted and resulted in plate issue 7/8 weeks later?

    Plate Heat Exchanger keeps failing

The scale protection is Combicare scale inhibitor by BWT. Is that a decent product?

    Plate Heat Exchanger keeps failing

Hi Muggles, I have been assured it was by the plumber. Many thanks for your reply, I don't know enough about it and want to make sure I go the right path to resolution.

    Plate Heat Exchanger keeps failing

Hi, just looking to inform myself before escalating issue with either Valliant or plumber. Had extension finished in Dec 2018, new pipes throughout to shower/taps/radiators. New Valliant boiler installed. Water wasn't heating fully from the off, had Valliant out Jan 19, replaced heat exchanger...

Fill in tap hole on quartz counter

Hi, can a tap hole that has been cut in a quartz worktop be filled in/replaced and would it look ok? Just had quartz worktop put in, they have made 1 central hole for a mixer tap rather than 2 holes we require. Havent explored how they messed it up yet, just wondering if it can be reversed or do...
