Grout width to match different size wall and floor tiles

I got out the spreadsheet and realised that what you end up with is a floor tile that must have a grout width of 1/2 the larger wall tile. This would give either a 2mm floor grout line and a 4mm wall grout line, or a 3mm & 6mm. 3mm is listed in the wiki as the recommended minimum for floor...

Grout width to match different size wall and floor tiles

We've decided on a grid layout for the tiles in our new bathroom and I'm getting a bit stuck with setting out. The wall tiles are a 200x200mm square tile and the floor tiles 100x100mm. I want the wall and floor to line up without running out, but struggling to work out the grout width to...

It's blowing a gale in here (French door draught)

Just as a follow up, could adjusting the espagnolette cam be a way to pull the door into the frame on the bottom edge? Seems like a point of adjustment that could have the desired effect.

    UPVC on flag hinges.

It's blowing a gale in here (French door draught)

I probably should do, but he's not someone I hired for his finesse. If it's just fiddling around with the hinges it's something I'm probably better off doing myself.

It's blowing a gale in here (French door draught)

We've got a new set of french doors recently fitted by our builder. Yesterday, while entertaining some friends I couldn't help but notice a pretty substantial draught coming in from the french doors. There is a small gap, along the bottom edge of the master door, getting widest as it meets the...

    When to order french doors?

Looking at the current external door, I actually think the DPC sits above the internal floor level, by around 75mm, I hope they continued it underneath the slab, but given the rest of the house, it seems doubtful. Either way, DPC to lintel/current soldier brick course is 2100mm.

    When to order french doors?

Thanks for the responses. I was planning on getting the opening taken down to the DPC, with the lintel height staying the same, the DPC is two courses above ground level. The door will sit in the outer leaf (flush with the outside wall). Looking online I guess this means the builder will need...

    When to order french doors?

We have a window that looks out onto the garden. Our builder is going to widen the opening and fit a new lintel, taking the opening down so we can fit french doors. Should we order the french doors before or after the opening has been enlarged? My GF is concerned that the property will be...

What trade, window, french doors advice and skylight

I have a small 3x3m flat roofed extension that is currently the kitchen. We have decided to swap round the layout, converting it into a dining room. In the process, we would like to bring more light into the room. My proposal to do this is; convert the existing window into a set of french doors...
