    "Best" durable/washable/scrubbable emulsion

Thanks for those suggestions. I'll compare the three and make a choice. Cheers

    "Best" durable/washable/scrubbable emulsion

Thanks for that - I did wonder if "diamond" meant hard wearing!! I wish they wouldn't make up these damn silly names instead of jut using easily understandable words like "scrubbable" ....

    "Best" durable/washable/scrubbable emulsion

Can anyone recommend a good durable/scrubbable magnolia emulsion - cost is an issue but I'd prefer a good result to saving a few quid. It is for the walls (about 40 sqm) of a room in which my parrots live - consequently it will get regularly covered with all sorts of food that they throw...

    Overpainting B&Q 'teflon-containing' emulsion

Sorry to be thick .... Do I seal over the "new" paint (which washes off) or do I have to wash back to the 'teflon' paint and seal that? Thanks

    Overpainting B&Q 'teflon-containing' emulsion

Some years ago I painted several internal walls with a B&Q matt emulsion containing Teflon (might have been called the "Lifestyles" range) to get a washable surface. It was a good enough paint, and fit for purpose. B&Q have since discontinued the range. About 5 months ago I over-painted...

How best to repair & finish external rough render

That is the very question I'm asking myself! I have to get the blown wall redone (say 25m2) and I think I'll just aim at getting a good quality repair job done and pay to get some time spent making the repairs look as unobtrusive as possible on the rest to make sure it looks sound and is...

How best to repair & finish external rough render

Phew, that was an anxious moment. For a while I thought I was screwed by this business of having to upgrade the insulation if I was repairing more than 25% of the render. Fortunately I had cavity wall insulation done by Warmfront and that will have reduced the u-value of the wall...

Should I buy a working platform?

Thanks for that - and that IS the kind of tower I'm looking at - exactly the 'connection' you describe. Yup, it'll be easy enough to secure the tower to stop wobble, and I have some wire rope and turn-buckles I can construct bracing with. I think it'll save me a few hundred per job when I...

Should I buy a working platform?

Now to me that's counter-intuitive. I'd have expected "heavy steel" to be more rigid than "light aluminium". Is it something about the joining method between sections or the bracing? The tower I'm looking at has swaged connections. I will be able to secure the tower to various...

creating a 'dummy' low pitched roof around a flat roof

Thanks for the tip, Nige F. I'm fortunate that next door is white with black trim and to my eyes it looks very 'clean'. I will ask them and find out if it was "brilliant white" they used or some 'off white" however. Ta muchly

creating a 'dummy' low pitched roof around a flat roof

Well, ta :) It should look a bit better when the bright green trim is changed to black and the house painted white (black garage door). I've always thought it to be awful, but my taste is often questioned! It does sound like it isn't worth many £k to put right. Ta again

Should I buy a working platform?

Looks like I should keep checking maybe, but I guess 6x4 is more available than a 2'6" wide tower, and that's the widest I can use becaue of access limitations.
