Hi I’m nowhere near gas mains out here. My oil boiler seems to be on its last legs. If I just get a similar new replacement boiler fitted, any ideas how much I would be looking at? 2-bed bungalow. Seen some boilers just north of 1100 quid for the boiler not fitting. Old one is a combi. Cheers Terry

Yes it’s a low torque, I hadn’t thought through. As you say it’s just nipped up. Bloke who services it doesn’t know his own strength. Probably have a look tomorrow.

It may push trace amounts of oil along the prop shaft in operation but then it hasn’t run since last service.

Thanks John. The book says tighten the level plug to 7 Nm 5.2 ft-lb. Not sure how tight that is. I have a torque wrench (my Dad’s) (and I’m 75!) so I don’t know how accurate it is. Yeah looks like the driver bit would survive, but would it damage the slot if it wasn’t the same thickness as the slot, 2 mm or thereabouts?

Hi John, no not rusted or anything. It’ll a level plug for the gearbox oil in an outboard motor. The manual quotes a torque when re-fitting - not sure how to torque a screwdriver!

Hi I need to undo a machine screw. Iris slotted but very tight. A screw driver as broad as the slot tends to just twist and would damage the slot. I need a screwdriver to square drive bit as thick as the slot - any ideas pls? Terry

Rsgaz thank you. I wondered if that was how it worked but wanted to check. I want something to hold down a straight edge guide (eg a bit of 3 ply) on top of the work but still be low enough for the motor of a circular saw to pass over it. Thanks from Terry
