    combi-boiler or multipoint gas heater?

I presume you mean Ravenheat or Ideal are just as good as Worcester or Vaillant. There are plenty of reviews on the internet that say Ravenheat (especially) and Ideal boilers are unreliable. So perhaps they are difficult to fit properly.

    combi-boiler or multipoint gas heater?

Which is the best boiler from the list I gave in an earlier post? I`m really not interested in the Ravenheat or Ideal Logic boilers, given what I have read about them. I want a reliable boiler, so I would prefer a Worcester or Vaillant. Would a 27.1KW (Worcester 28 Jun) produce enough hot...

    combi-boiler or multipoint gas heater?

I agree that the second company are talking twaddle, I think they are pushing us to have radiators installed, so that`s more work for them. The first company gave us a suggested range of boilers in their quote, they are... Worcester 28 Junior. Worcester 30 CDI. Vaillant Pro 28. Vaillant...

    combi-boiler or multipoint gas heater?

Thanks Flameport, I`m just concerned that two reputable "gas safe" companies can have such conflicting views. Regarding central heating, we want a combi, so that we can possibly have central heating installed in the future. The problem with installing it is that the downstairs floors are solid...

    combi-boiler or multipoint gas heater?

We have recently had gas installed and want to replace our hot water cylinder and immersion heater with a gas fired hot water system. Our existing central heating is by electric storage radiator and we are keeping that as it is. The boiler would therefore be for hot water only. We have...

    Loft Insulation

Our house originally had a flat roof, about 25 years ago a new pitched roof was built, with the old flat roof left in situ. Shortly after the new roof was fitted I constructed a model railway room up there, 7ft wide down the centre of the roof space. I removed the old roofing in this section to...

    recladding outhouse

At 44 years old, I`m afraid the boards are beyond being re used.

    New door.

I want to replace our porch door (the internal door from the house to the porch). The existing door is 838mm wide by 42mm thick in a door frame with a 45mm rebate. The door is part glazed. As the house was built in 1967, would this be regarded as a fire door? I`m not sure about regulations...

    recladding outhouse

I know building a shed with vertical boards is a bad idea, but I am replacing existing vertical boards.

    recladding outhouse

I am thinking of recladding our outhouse as the timber has shrunk so much that rain blows in through the gaps. It`s clad with verticle tongue and groove boards aprox 110mm wide by 15mm thick. Each board has chamfered edges, so the effect is a V between board joints. The house (and the outhouse)...

Thanks for that, we live in the former Norweb area so our times should be the same.

    Economy 7

It is a Horstman type controller as Nozspark says, so trying to set it to the times that the E7 period operates must be a bit hit and miss if that period can be varied as Flameport says. Whatever happens, I will be paying for part of the water heating costs on full price electricity.

    Economy 7

Thanks for your reply, but our immersion heater is not wired wrongly. It is on an Economy7 Water Heater controller which is specifically designed for Economy 7 systems. The heater can be set to switch on or off at any time between midnight and 8.30 am. It`s a bit odd that I can set it to...
