    Lightweight Blocks

Is the price I have sourced for the 7N block cheap ? How much can i expect to pay for the 3N blocks. Can they be used for internal and external leaf - external being rendered and dashed to match original afterwards ?

    Lightweight Blocks

Why do these cost more than normal weight blocks ? I need 3750 blocks and can find normal weight at 52p each and lightweight at 81p each. I would like to get light weight as they are easier to lay but quite a price diff.

Hi, Does building regs require use of fireline (pink) plasterboard for living room ceilings. Typical 3 bed semi arrangement, with 2 bedrooms above the 2 lounge ceilings. Also, is it advisable to add insulation whilst the ceilings are down. If yes, what's the best/cheapest option...

    Painting over dark varnish

we are re-decorating and have dark varnished doors and wondered if we could paint white gloss straight onto varnish. My traditional, no pain no gain, dad says gloss will not stick and colour will not be true white. He says we should sand door first. Don't mind but sanding 4 doors, door...

    Which construction method

BCO made me dig a trial pit and I dug it at the near left corner of where the building is to be cited. There are tree stumps in the middle of the left edge and in the centre of the rear edge. These were clearly visible for the BCO to notice, however he didn't see them a problem, he merely...

    Which construction method

Do you think 300mm would be sufficient given the building will be 8m x 8m and 3.5m high, with a pitched roof ? Building regs chap said footings should be 600mm*750mm. He didn't mention using steel mesh or cages. May need to call him out again. Any other views ?

    Which construction method

Oops, I made some mistakes in my original note - the builder calcuated 960 blocks per skin, so approx 2000 blocks not 200  He also said it is £0.60 for concrete block, £1.00 for breeze block and £1 to lay them, so£2.60 per block excluding sand/cement, insulation, scaffolding, lintels and...
