    underfloor heating temperature difference

Sorry guys for not getting back sooner but I've been away. Anyway this is a new installation (the floors aren't down yet) and I was just wondering about this for the comissioning. There are 11 zones and some of the zones have 2 loops of 80(ish) m. The tails are all insulated, the floor is...

    First fix wiring test

Thanks folks, I am fairly confident that the cables are intact, howeverI think I'll get 'sparky' to run a check on them before we 'go live' and that will also tell a tale. Thanks for the input.

    First fix wiring test

No reason, just for my own peace of mind. I would imagine if, when the electrician comes back to second fix, and there is a problem, it might be more difficult to rectify if the solid floors are down and the second fix joinery is complete.

    First fix wiring test

Mmmmm! No, but it was difficult sometimes. Some tradesmen, just want to get in finish the job and get paid as quickly as possible without even considering the trades that follow.

    First fix wiring test

Sorry guys, I may not have made this clear. It's a new build first fix, we don't even have the power to the dwelling yet. I understand the rcd's will trip at the slightest imballance, it's just I would like to know if all the cables are fully intact (no cuts or breaks) Ta

    First fix wiring test

Hey folks, can anyone tell me whats involved in getting the first fix electrics tested. We have just got the house plastered and for my own peace of mind I'd like to know if a plasterboard screw or floorboard nail has 'nipped' a cable. like i say I'd like to know what tests are required...

    Oh dear, foot through ceiling.

Thanks guys, that sounds relatively easy and more importantly inexpensive. One of the up-sides of this so called recession is that skilled tradesmen, like plasterers, are getting easier to find and easier to pay with the work being scarce.

    Oh dear, foot through ceiling.

Problems problems. I have just performed the classic maneuver and put my foot through the ceiling of our bathroom. I was insulating between the joists and slipped of the joist resulting in a skinned shin and £2 into the swear box. My question is, can this be repaired easily or will the...

    Lights in fan over shower

Thanks Kevindgas, the light / fan will be positioned directly over the shower so I presume that is Zone 1. Does this zone require differnt bulbs because the B&Q unit looks like the 12v bulbs you see in downlighters etc. They seem a bit 'unsafe'

    Lights in fan over shower

Hey folks, Can someone please enlighten me (pardon the pun  ) as to what the standards are for lights over a shower. I see B&Q are selling an integrated light / fan unit but it gives no indication as to the Zone, I know its Zone A or 1 or something but what exactly does that signify...

    Boiler size / choice

Thanks eaton, it was the underfloor heating company that came up with the figure of 32.2Kw. The house is 6 bed and 4 bath so I suppose that explains the output required. Given that 3Kw is required for the water then I suppose a 32/50 boiler would be enough. Is there benefit in going...

    Boiler size / choice

Hey guys, Another quick one, I need a ball park figure as to how many Kw will be needed to heat the water in our house. We have calculated that we'll need 32.2 Kw for the heating and I'm unsure as to what is required for hot waster. We will have 3 en-suites (all with showers only) and a...
