manufacturer Baxi, MI says prv must be 15mm and run continuously down to outside, no mention of any material, no mention of seperate pipe,

but in the MI's it does't say the blow off has to be in copper, it says " must be of a minimum size of 15mm and run continuously downhill to the out side," no mention either of seperate pipe, :o

why is it, when you inspect a boiler for maintenance contract, some will accept a combined condensate and blow off, and others will not ?, Is it a fixed rule or up to the gasman,

i have noticed this too on the rads i have been using, (plastic bits fitted) but still ping when heating and cooling, so i've stopped using them and gone to myson rads, so far they've been ok but cost more,

what is got to do with rainwaters is a rainwter is 2 1/2 inch, so if that can freeze, the recommended size of 1 1/4 will freeze more easily, its not possible for always to run the condensate internally, and its perfectly ok to run then outside because the MI's say so, so who knows best the...

another plumber not knowing squat, condensates freezing that are put in according to M.I's are happening all over the country, rainwater pipes are freezing too are they the fault of the installer ? :(

i can confirm that statia is correct, i recently changed one, on ordering the part from gas-spares.co.uk (my usual supplier) they informed me that its a upgraded board and its recommended to change the thermistor as well,

all you gas operatives with your fga's and gas rating charts scatching your heads, measuring the pipe size and counting the fittings, why won't the figures tally ????, the 'made up science' of gas technoligy is only as good as the supplier can deliver, :lol:

if i was coming and you stood behind me with a check list, i'd walk away, leaving your boiler in bits on the floor, and you'd be stood their clutching your precious £120 with no heating or water, and i would't come back, too busy to be bothered with a 'handbag' type customer
