    Lead Valleys

Never mentioned woodworm because there is NO woodworm. My question was (as post #5) ... pre re-roof with no membrane, I could NOT see daylight by the valley. I now can see daylight running all way down following the length of the valley board. So I was trying to find out. if you consider...

    Lead Valleys

No. When loft lights are switched off, I can see daylight which follows the edge of the valley board. So with new lead and fresh non-permeable membrane I expected the roof pitches to be blacked out.

    Lead Valleys

Natural slate roof, lead valleys NO membrane of any kind. No leaks so far. Just wondering what will happen when snow settles/freezes on the roof and then later thaws out, will it then leak into the roof where the daylight can been seen now.

Pre re-roof there was NO membrane Pre re-roof there was NO membrane. So now seeing daylight is that a worry ?

    Patching New Membrane Torn

So I recently had a complete re-roof, from no membrane natural slates to membrane and manmade slates. The chimney stack needed attention to. I was working from home at the time and I could hear a load of banging, sawing and hammering, not the usual brickwork noises. I popped out and could...

    Membrane Proof

Had another look at my pics. The lap is there, it is about 6" below the protruding object. I would have to crawl below the purlin into eaves area, shove my hand/arm down into the lap and then maybe try bounce the object to fall into my hand. Which I don't think is like considering how much it...

    Lead Valleys

Ok thanks. One more thing; pre re-roof with no membrane, I could not see daylight by the valley. I now can see daylight running all way down following the length of the valley board. Is this normal or not?

    Membrane Proof

No, there is no lap there between those rafters. I think that is the purlin shadow.

    Lead Valleys

Hi catlad, When I was up there I just wanted to check. Using a bucket trowel it did not hit any welts. Plus, a few days later I asked one of the guys and he told me no lead welts.

    Membrane Proof

In the past when a cracked slate was replaced, it was secured with a lead tag or some adhesive. So with a brand new re-roof I did not want to see a lead tag. Adhesive, how long does that hold. Not a worry I needed.

    Membrane Proof

Hello, After a recent re-roof I notice something trying to bust through the membrane into the loft space. I have worked out that it some mortar from the chimneys brickwork relaying. I think after not to long with weather changes and general roof movement the mortar junk is going pierce...

    Lead Valleys

Hello, The pic shows valley installation to a recent re-roof. From all YouTube vids lead valleys are installed with lead welts. I am confused why it has not been done here. Is it still the norm to do lead welts or not ? Any other thoughts on this lead valley install ?

    New Roof concerns

Ok. I have not had much look finding info regarding the leadwork protection to back of a chimney stack. As you said that it is not a welded back, I would appreciate if you would give me any links to info for alternative protections to welded lead. Thanks.
