How is air getting to my central heating pump

That pic was from the first time I'd switched the heating on. After I posted I turned it on and off a few more times and it drew quite a bit more water out. I've tightened each nut from the boiler to the pump inlet as much as I can and I left the heating on overnight on 'auto' which kept...

How is air getting to my central heating pump

I think you're getting somewhere - turned the heating on and off a few times, let the air out of the pump to get it revving away etc. Water level in the bottle has definitely dropped : Before: After: Does this mean I need the central heating properly flushed out? Sorry thought you meant...

How is air getting to my central heating pump

We'll be replacing the boiler with a combi at some point but it's a while away yet as funds are being spent making the house liveable & refurbing. The rest of the water and piping system actually seems to be performing well, just the heating.

How is air getting to my central heating pump

Is the feed pipe outlet what I've circled here? If so the water level is a few inches above yes. The vent pipe (big long slightly drooping one?) Isn't dipping into the water. Yep you're right. Unfortunately during its lifetime this house has been subject to some questionable decision...

How is air getting to my central heating pump

Yes it's about a third full and when I push down on it water comes through to fill it back up. Pic attached - very awkward to get to as no room to get my big head above it.

How is air getting to my central heating pump

It's an old baxi solo 40/4 RS. Pipe feeds below: I'll check when I'm back in the house tomorrow. Both tanks are in the airing cupboard upstairs.

How is air getting to my central heating pump

Hi all, So since moving into this house my heating has been very tempremental in that the pump (grundfos alpha 2) seems to be getting airlocked all the time. It's an old vented system with its own feed from the boiler going to the central heating pump (so no switching valve etc). If I've not...

    Replacing old thermostat

    Replacing old thermostat

Sorry I didn't see this reply. The diagram I've provided was an incorrect variant. I've got the stat now and about to wire it in. The diagram is as follows and this is what I've done so far. When you say link between L and L1 do you mean literally to have another wire coming out of L and...

Recommendations for what to do with this stone floor

Hi all, We've tackled the living room, bedrooms and bathroom and now we're ready to tackle the kitchen/dining room and looking for opinions on what to do with the floor. I've attached a picture to show the current state of it. This was originally just a dining room with the kitchen in the...

    Replacing old thermostat

Sorry I should have been more clear - the thermostat is a wall mounted stat with built in WiFi. Something like this - https://www.amazon.co.uk/Thermostat-Programmable-Assistant-Telephone-APP-Black/dp/B07NS61CZG/ref=gp_aw_ybh_a_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=YTQ09Q9P1386S67VH91X

    Replacing old thermostat

Hi all, I've managed to fix my central heating so it now heats all radiators! The next thing on my to-do list is buy a new modern WiFi thermostat and replace the old ACL TS142 stat (which is also missing it's dial). I've read that it's most likely not going to be a straight forward replacement...

Which way round do I lay this laminate underlay?

Hi all, I've got this white foam laminate underlay which has film on one side. Does the film go against the floor or up in the air? Also am I best taping the joints or not bothering? And I assume the underlay doesn't need securing down and the laminate on top will ensure its all secure...

    Ceiling light confusion

You've got everything spot on! Thanks for the insight. As a previous renter in mostly new build flats, buying a 1907 house has been a massive learning exercise for me. Really enjoying it so far.
