Wont a slip mix of cement and water hold tiles to the wall in extreme heat places.
My theory is that firstly it sticks like sh** to a blanket.Secondly brick fireplaces are mortored with a cement sand mix and they handle the heat perfectly with no side effects. Cement isnt known to shrink or...
Im a cynical old Basta*d
The salesmen will tell you to apply sealer to slate then the top coat of satin shine.
The satin top coat obviously goes off and must by definition seal the slate........so why the hell is a sealer requiried beforehand.
Seems stupid
Can someone confirm this...
Yes, just cement dust and the water pva mix as already described.
It works brilliantly as a screed ,dries rock hard and is a great cheap solution that once finished gives the same effect as a self levelling compound
This forum is full of advice loads of conflicting advice about laying screeds.
This is a good solution that works very well , gives no problems and is cheap.
My double garage floor was uneven and dusty.
There is so much helpful advice but trouble is theres too much of it.
The...
Im looking to bond on a 40-50mm screed to my dusty garage floor.
I have half ton of sharp sand and 4 tons of ballast lying around and want to make use of it rather than buying more in.
Will this combination make a suitable screed if trowelled flat ? (using cement slurry bond)
Nice idea ...but
The floors pi**ed and off 60mm to one side.
The floor also slopes down 50mm to the front to stop rain coming in.
It would take bags and bags of the stuff and its not cheap
Ive laid a double garage slab and build the garage on it. The surface of the slab is very dusty and easy gauges.
Im guessing it wasnt trowelled enough
This floor will be getting heavy use and ive tried concrete sealer and paint before and it was Sh*t and useless. Its just a skin and i need...
Thanks for all of your advice guys.
I think what im going to do is fit a twin impeller show pump to speed the flow up and leave it at that . Ill run a return pipe through the roof space just in case it annoys me having to wait for hot water.
Cheers :D
I understand your suggestion which i like , BUT would the circulating pump when off allow water to pass through it when the shower pump is sucking through it , or would it draw from the initial feed?
Have i answered my own question.
Also , is its basic electrics to wire it up to work in...
Thanks or your replies
I understand the idea of sitting a secondary return and think this is a good idea , but surely a circulating pump this isnt going to provide enough flow for the standard shower
Also - Would a circulating pump switch on automatically like a shower pump - a vacuum type...
Thanks for the info,
Lets say the basin hot tap is on and the pump is pumping away.
Wont this put too much pressure on the CLOSED cold tap/pipes/pump/joints? causing a leak or damage?
My water heats from the imersion or AGA. No central heating.
Ive built a single storey extention and a 50 foot run from the imersion heater and cold storage tank.
Im aware that the flow in both pipes will be poor so want to fit a pump to supply a basin , loo and built in shower(not...
I have a fake brick fireplace in my living room which terminates at the ceiling joists.
Im fitting a wood burner with building regs due to an extention and need to know what type of flue is suitable to line the inside of this chimney?
Also , how does this fix to the inside of the chimney...
