Hi
Looking to fit a vertical radiator in our kitchen extension. There are already pipes ready to take a radiator 48cm apart. However, there are a couple of issues:
The freezer door opens where the radiator would go- would it be possible to extend the connectors right about 5-10 cm so the...
Finally got up there properly(new hatch). It was bizarre what he had done: insulation stuffed either side of the chimney; plasterboard screwed to the rafters, but only some had insulation behind it; piles of dirty torn up insulation left in a heap; propped up boards against the eaves.
There...
Having a joiner/builder round to cut a new opening for the loft as our current one is too small and above the stairs.
He says he has done plenty before. Just wanted some advice on what I should check with him before he starts, I don't want to have to pay for a new roof!
Also, should he be...
As you can see from the photos the only way to access the loft is to put the ladder across the staircase, which doesn't feel safe, especially when finding a rung on exiting.
The hatch measures 65cm by 48cm.
What would be the best option for access? Would a loft ladder fit? Only way I could...
But is what he did okay? I've read on several sites, not to have anything touching the slates- which the rockwool is doing. I'm tempted to pull it all out and lay it across the chipboard which lies above the 2 main bedrooms so they are well insulated, then use the exposed parts for storage...
Just been doing some research, 2008 a regulation came in saying new installations should be connected to an RCD, so I guess we are okay- probably explains why the previous owner never had extra sockets put into the bedrooms.
We have bought a house with a 2006 extension. Electrician told us today that he can't understand how the extension passed the building regulations certification, he says the electrics should only have been connected to an RCD unit, which we haven't got.
We have got a copy of the certificate...
Thanks. My question would be then- should a 2006 extension have been connected to this box? I have a buildings regulations certificate in front of me, but the electrician seems to think it should not have passed.
We had an electrician round today to sort a problem with the lighting circuit in our extension built in 2006. Looking at our fuse box which I believe to be RCD with a separate breaker for both the cooker and the shower he commented that:
1. The extension wouldn't have got through building regs...
Been up into the loft for the first time today in our new (1930s) house. Have found it to be a bit of a mess. The floor has been boarded using chipboard, not sure if there is much insulation under there, but the former owner has partially insulated the roof. The bottom layer of the roof appears...
We've moved into a house with this shower already installed. It has worked fine for the past few weeks, however over the past couple of days we have had problems with it stopping and the low water pressure light showing.
We have a combi-boiler downstairs and get a good water pressure from...
