Most extractors work via the light switch. Unless you are very experienced in this area you should really get an electrician to make the change. You will also need to ensure a timed fan is fitted so it runs on clearing condensation ect after the light...

The pipes run on to the header tank. I looked up there but could not see a bleed valve on the end of either of them.. Unless you tell me I am mistaken?

I would say Gravity HW Down and pumped CH although of course the same pump pushes the hot water up to the tank to heat the coil.
The pump is in the same cupboard as the boiler which is in the basement, there are no others. Whole system is circa 1980 and the boiler is a Glowworm 85-100.
