Turned out Daniel's report wasn't at all helpful. Apparently he wrote the damage was caused by us trying to open and close the doors!! Which is completely stupid to claim that's how the damage occurred. I guess my only option is to raise this with the ombudsman.

Daniel came and had a look. He said that it'd been installed terribly. It basically needs to be reinstalled. He said it's hard to tell if the bits need replacing because it was installed so badly! Hopefully it's not going to cause us issues saying it was installed wrong! He was a really nice...

So they are sending out someone to do a report on the fault. They are coming Friday morning. So that's more progress than before. I don't know if they are just going to get to the end then say no but at least they are doing something!!

I gave the ombudsman a call. They said there isn't really anything they can do. I was convinced the policy covered against defects, not defects if the builder isn't a cowboy or goes into liquidation.

Also the document they gave me says that "Plus you can guarantee your deposit and all the work carried out for up to 10 years – wherever you see our stamp of approval..." So feels a bit deceptive to then turn round and say no it's not!!
