Turned out Daniel's report wasn't at all helpful. Apparently he wrote the damage was caused by us trying to open and close the doors!! Which is completely stupid to claim that's how the damage occurred. I guess my only option is to raise this with the ombudsman.

So what if the damage was caused by you attempting to open and close the doors? You can quite justifiably need to still use them.
Just say the original company told you that it was OK to still use until they could fix or something.
Definitely take it further, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.
If they can be removed and refitted it may be not too expensive, as long as not much needs replacement, should you end up paying....
