What to treat Tanalised garden furniture with?

I have some good quality soft wood garden furniture made from tanalised pine. I know it is not essential to apply a treatment, but I would like to to preserve its looks and make it last a bit longer. The supplier reccomends a Finnish wood oil (water based) but it is £70 per tin, so I am looking...

Draining down a central heating system

Thanks, I had already looked at that, but it does not say the best way to do a partial drain, if possible

    Conservatory wiring

    Conservatory wiring

I am having a conservatory built which will be wired up by a qualified electrician. However, I wish to put in some signal and speaker wiring for AV while I have the chance, and have a few questions 1) Is it legal for me to do this? I assume it is not covered by the current legislation. 2) If...

Villeroy and Boch Toilet seat fixing

I have a Villeroy and Boch Subway toilet installed 18 months ago in my bathroom. One of the fixings that hold the toilet seat on has come loose and I wish to tighten it up. However, I cannot see how to access the fixing from underneath. It is one of these modern compact designs that are cowled...

    Conservatory insulation

Depends what you call expensive? I went for a turnkey approach from a local reputable supplier whose work I was familiar with. It is a 7m by 4.2m P shaped one in UPVC VEKA frames with dwarf wall and glass roof. The glass is as stated with self cleaning all round and solar control self...

    Conservatory insulation

It does seem impressive, but that's what they advertise. These specs are supposed to be well controlled though aren't they? The glass is St Gobain Planitherm http://uk.saint-gobain-glass.com/b2c/default.asp?nav1=pr&nav2=single%20pane&id=2090 That's what the spec says. The roof is...

    Conservatory insulation

Is that really true? If I beleive what I read, the u value of the glass i am using is 1.2 for the roof and 1.1 for the windows. An un insulated brick cavity is 1.0 and an insulated one is 0.6. so there is not that much difference?

    Conservatory insulation

I am having a conservatory built. It is high spec with all the latest glass etc, but they have not insulated the cavity. I have the chance to do this myself by pouring in a loose fill insulation before they put the frames on next week. Should I do this, and if so what with? Are there any...
