Fixing USB lamp - wiring help

My daughter has managed to break a USB lamp at the switch. I’ve can use a soldering iron so thought I’d have a go at a fix before scraping. The switch is 3 way, middle being off, left gives a cool white light, right gives a warm white. I’m not sure where the wires need to go on each side of...

How to remove this bath twist plug hole

Can someone tell me how I remove the plug hole section of this twist pop up waste please (see photo)? The mechanism has gone so need to replace it all, am comfortable with it apart from the plug hole, in other examples I’ve seen a screw or Allen key used but this is just round in the middle...

    Reassembling shower valve

After some more faffing about, I’ve come to the conclusion the valve is knackered and needs replacing. Seems as soon as the water pressure gets up, the valve comes apart. Shouldn’t need to set it in a certain position, should just be plug and play. Off to eBay to try and find a cheaper part !

    Reassembling shower valve

Can you please help me readable/ reseat this shower valve please (see photo’s), or at least explain how it works so I can try and figure it out myself. The shower type and valve are shown here. The mechanism has become stiff so took apart to add silicone grease. I’ve done this a few times...

    Think my HEX is gone

Just want to check thoughts of others before calling the heating engineer out. I’ve got a Greenstar 32CDI. For the last month or so the pressure has been dropping about 1 bar in 3 days. Have done all the checks on visible pipe work, can’t see any water on ceiling etc. also checked the expansion...

    Boilermate II and Hive

What ‘fears’ have you confirmed out of interest? The Boilermate II is a thermal store which means it always contains hot water. You can turn the central heating off but if the store did not have hot water in it then you would not get hot water at your taps. Therefore a small amount of gas will...

    Repair fence post against pavement

Yep the storm got my fence and I need to replace 6 x 2.1m 100mm wooden posts. I have done a few on sides of the fence, I am comfortable with the process and have a breaker which makes easy work of the concrete but this time I have a slight uncertainty because we are the end house and this fence...

    Quality Radiator

Sounds like you’re going to need sunglasses when you walk into your house :D I’ve got the Kudox radiators and now you say it comparing it to our white skirting boards they are slightly creamier, you would never notice though against the various colour walls, I can see why it might be a problem...

    Quality Radiator

Why do you need rads that are exactly the same shade of white? Have you got some side-by-side in the same room? You’re happy to have different style radiators around the house but not slightly different shades of white? Sorry just sounds a bit baffling

    Rate of pressure loss

OP, why don’t you let some water out of a bleed vent into a measuring jug until you’ve lost approx. 0.1 bar. Might need someone at the boiler while you do it or a few trips back and forth. Only way you’re going to get a decent estimate on your own system with variables others have mentioned.

    Leaking shower

Get on your hands and knees and inspect the grout closely. I’ve had en suite shower leak in the corners which turned out to be small cracks in the grout due to a loose tile. Worth check before resealing.
