Hi Datarebal, Yes the asphalt is dressed about 15cm up the wall. But the bond is so strong, when the asphalt shrank, it broke up the brick as you can see. The pointing itself is not deteriorating, but the crack is more due to the movement of the asphalt (I think).

It's open vented. Its one of those typical pull out, single lever kitchen. Are they generally not for tank feed?

Hope someone can shed me a bit more light on how to use these air vent correctly, also comment on my "combined feed and vent" system ..
