No they are in the middle of the room so they would be removed with the joists.

Hi yes I want to remove the bulk of the joists so that I can raise the ceiling higher. I am concerned about the small left over parts of the joists that are supporting the trusses on the outerwall collapsing like a deck of cards, unless I put in braces. Thanks.
