    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

I've just turned the heating back on to see what happens and the blue light has started flashing again. It's quite fast - probably 2 flashes per second.

    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

Can I mention something else which might be connected. My fuel bill is through the roof, 3 times higher than the industry average for my size of house. Could this be connected (eg a possible gas leak)?

    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

The model number is Greenstar 18RI. It's still solid again now, and I'm sorry but I didn't notice how regular the flashes were when it was flashing earlier. I haven't dared touch it because of it flashing, but I can re-set it if that's OK to do.

    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

Thank you, Andrew. I'll go and look for the model number and see if it's started flashing again.

    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

PS. I've just been to look at the boiler again and the blue light is now solid, as it has been when I've looked at it from time to time over the last few weeks.

    Spasmodic C/H and flashing boiler

My central heating has been very spasmodic for the last few weeks. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes not. I’ve never used a timer with it, I just turn it on/off as needed. I tried to get an engineer to come and look at it, but nobody rang me back. Now I’ve noticed that the blue light on the...

Replacement for Mira Supajet 202 shower

Thanks, stem. The leak is coming from the bottom of the unit and I gather it's a cracked compression nut.

Replacement for Mira Supajet 202 shower

A relative’s shower is dripping slightly from the bottom of the control unit. I gather it’s a Mira Supajet 202. Can anyone suggest a suitable replacement? Many thanks for any recommendations.

Smoothing the jagged edge of glass

Thank you all. I had a look for the earlier suggestions while I was in Homebase this evening but they didn't have anything so the Amazon link is brilliant - many thanks and I appreciate all the responses, and thanks for the reminder to be careful, DaveHern :)

Smoothing the jagged edge of glass

Can anyone recommend a tool which will level off a jagged edge on a sheet of 2mm glass? I'm guessing there's not a "glass-strength" sandpaper but it would be good if there was. Or a suitable grinder? It's just for occasional use. Thanks.

Flood from water tank and no pressure

Thanks, Madrab, and it's just water, not discoloured, it's the wet floor that makes it looks black.

Flood from water tank and no pressure

He's actually a really nice chap and very honest. It's just that everything was OK before he came to service the boiler, and this is now the 4th time in a week that he's had to come back to deal with leaks that I didn't have before he came :( It's a good job he's not a doctor as their...

Flood from water tank and no pressure

Thanks, Nozzle, but I don't have the tools or the knowledge/skill to do all that (sorry, I'm female and I haven't been taught how to use a blow torch or dismantle a water system) Thanks, hazetimesfive and Nozzle again, I imagine it must be a bypass valve and he fitted the system originally...

Flood from water tank and no pressure

Sorry about this long story, but I would appreciate your comments. All I wanted was an annual boiler service, everything was OK. I got the same plumber who had installed both the boiler (Worcester Bosch) and a new water tank (Albion Ultrasteel) a couple of years ago. He went to check the...
