I unblocked the feed from the header tank and thought I had solved my problem but things seem to be getting worse .
The boiler comes on and heats the water for the radiators then turns itself off when the correct temp is reached .
The pump appears to be a "slave" style...
I also rang an ex-colleague of mine who was an ex-british gas engineer he told me almost straight away it may be blocked cold water feed and what to do . So last night I blocked off and emptied the header tank and removed the pump underneath in the upstairs cupboard .

I posted on here the other day and recieved a reply but my problem has moved on a bit since then and is really baffling me .
My boiler switches on but I don't think the gas valve is released because there may be no flow of water ( I could be wrong )even though the carcase of the boiler...
ok .hi . thanks for your swift reply .The last time I bled the pump I was worried about the tightness of the screw when I retightend ( too many times )so I am worried about doing that again in case it leaks . :?

in the summer I removed a rad and had a bit of trouble bleeding the radiators I may have been a bit impatient .Anyway it all seemed to work ok
