Thanks again for your help. All wired up and working.
Does my wiring look ok? I guess I've done a bit of a naughty and used the earth in the 3-core connecting Hive 1 to Hive 2 for splicing the CH2 wire. I've labelled both ends but guessing that's frowned upon? And 3 wires in Hive 1 N-L...
Correct. The immersion has its own isolator switch but where it is located it often gets accidentally knocked and turned on. It's now turned off at the MCB to prevent it from being accidentally being turned on.
Thanks for your replies; so helpful!
I notice that the Hive receiver only has an earth tether point? Is it ok to be running just N&L not E to Hive 1 and Hive 2?
Ok I use the main red switch. Thanks for pointing out the incorrect labels; it's a Taylor Wimpey new build, go figure.
Out of curiosity what risks are involved with just switching off the MCB for heating and testing for absence of voltage of the live wire and then working on that circuit?
Thanks for your reply. I turned off the heating switch as in the photo below of the consumer unit. Is it safe to be working on that circuit if I do so?
I could always flip the main switch if that is safer?
I am replacing a Hortsmann h37xl and switched off the heating RCD, tested the live wire to make sure it was off and all ok. When removing the Hortsmann one of the earth wires touched the neutral wire connected to the Hortsmann and tripped the whole RCD unit. I am a novice and wondering if...
Thanks for your reply.
Can you recommend where to buy some cabling from? I'd like to try and avoid buying a big spool of it if possible as I only need to do this job.
When you say run L/N/E from one Hive receiver to the other do I need to use a junction box or anything? I am not sure exactly...
Help wanted please!
I am planning to install Hive Active Heating 2 and replace Hortsmann h37xl; 2 heating zones and hot water. I have a hot water tank in my flat which feeds back to a communal boiler. My current setup has 2 htg zones with 2 wired honeywell thermostats.
I have 2 x Hive...
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what to do with my hot water meter?
We've had the heating on recently with the cold weather and a cardboard box directly underneath the hot water meter is damp. As you can see from the photo attached, the unit has quite a lot of condensation...
