    My plastering time lapse

Thanks John, although I've seen the videos before its helpful to keep watching them. Maybe I was struggling a bit because I was mixing up one batch for the 1st and 2nd coat, in this video he mixes up a new batch for the second coat, that would explain why it went off so quick. My next...

For right handed the tradtional way is Float coat from right to left , in order to to tie in the tmaterial at the looser heel of the trowel and skim coat from left in order to to remove th last trowelmark as you go That sounds hard.... I wish I could work with a plasterer just to...

Oh, I hope I haven't over done it. How do you guys finish your plaster then? Will paper stick to it?

    My plastering time lapse

Yes I did put 2 coats on, although its hard to see in the video, I have now done the wall on the right of this one (with the tv point) and its better, not prefect, but better. Why shouldnt you over polish the plaster? Its so nice when its like glass! lol

    Loose plaster and cement behind

I just had the same problem. I used thistle undercoat plaster then skimmed over the whole room (only because I wanted to do the whole room mind) I'm sure you could fill the gaps flush with plaster But, since, been advised to use hardwall or bonding (as above) then multi finish. Check out my...

    My plastering time lapse

I actually thought I mixed up quite dry! Maybe I just wasn't putting enough on the trowel.... I never thought or was taught to use a darby, sounds like a great idea, what stage would you do that at?

    My plastering time lapse

I did start from the left.... only at the bottom. On the next wall I do, I will do the top first, then work upto. Hopefully will be quicker! The main issue I am having with my plastering is its just not thick enough. Its nowhere near 3mm, its more like 1mm in some areas. Its not flat...

    My plastering time lapse

haha! I wasn't anywhere near as messy as I used to be, but did mix up a bit thicker this time! Yes I was taught to start at the bottom, I read a guide last night that said do the very top first, then from the left hand side in the middle of the wall go upwards, all the way along, then do the...

    My plastering time lapse

Hi all, I skimmed a wall for the first time since I did a DIY college course, here is a time lapse video. I thought you may be able to give advice, but its probably too fast to spot anything, so I thought I'd share for the fun of it! Ian

Newbie needs lots and lots of advice :)

Thanks! I did more last night around the window (I am plastering right up to the window) and filled more chasing around the new sockets low down (not photographed) where massive chucks of render had fallen off. It was extremely hard and I made a right mess of it. (I had just laugh at myself!)...

Hi, just a standard room vent, I forgot to take a photo. its about 250mm sq at a guess. It was so hard to open I figured it had been shut so long it wouldn't matter. Behind it is a air brick. Cavity's have been filled, loft has some insulation over each room. Do you think I will be ok removing...
