Siemens DVA3 (3-port valve) body only replacement

Sorry, flush is the wrong word. What I meant was drain / refill a couple of times, then add X400 for 2 weeks, then drain / refill a couple more times before adding a bottle of X100. Since then it has been untouched, but it should be okay. Like you say, I will see how it looks before deciding.

Siemens DVA3 (3-port valve) body only replacement

Thanks, that's a good idea (y). I did flush it about 4 years ago with X400, but given the age of the system (about 30 years) it is probably due again. Also, probably worth doing when it is running more or less 24 hours a day as it is at the moment.

Siemens DVA3 (3-port valve) body only replacement

Thanks for the fast response. I've got a bottle of X100 ready and will probably take the opportunity to flush the system a couple of times first. I've also got a bottle of X200 that I have been meaning to try for some time - so may give that a go as well. It was going to be a job for the Spring!

Siemens DVA3 (3-port valve) body only replacement

Of course it couldn't have happened in the summer... No hot water, traced to no hot going into the cylinder heat exchanger. I suspected that it is being caused a faulty / seized 3-port valve so popped the actuator off and tried to move the spindle by hand which it didn't. So I tried again...

    Fanfare 30/50Si No spark

Ah, got it - thanks for the clear explanation. Clever bit of design. Now I understand why if the electrode has degraded then the pilot will still light but the main burner solenoid won't open - obviously the sense circuit is registering (enough of) a change.

    Fanfare 30/50Si No spark

Thanks Tony, as luck would have it I found someone selling a new one just 0.5km away so was able to drive over there. No, I certainly wouldn't open the combustion chamber! The PCB on this old model sits underneath, and the spark electrode is accessible from the front without taking the cover...

    Fanfare 30/50Si No spark

Short follow up. I bought a new PCB for £40 of fleabay and low and behold everything is working again.

    Fanfare 30/50Si No spark

Hi, its the usual story I'm afraid, cold weather starts and the boiler stops :( Yesterday set the switch from "Lo" to "Hi" and programmer from Hot Water to Hot Water + Heating, everything was fine last night and this morning but this evening it fails to spark. Starting sequence seems...

Replace Landis & Gyr MA-V322 Actuator / Motor

I have a Landis & Gyr MA-V322 3-port valve which is making a clicking noise when CH is selected but not moving (and boiler does not fire unless HW is also on). I've taken the motor off and the valve arm is moving freely (spring loaded to return to HW position). The gear on the motor...

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

Unfortunately the valve didn't have a gland nut just some sort of spigot which turned the ball inside. In the end I got a Flowflex one from Screwfix which is almost identical to the old one but 5mm longer which made it a tight squeeze as there isn't much give in the pipework. (Fingers...

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

Yep, have got the required distance to the F&E tank (about 1.6m) Anyway replaced the pump, everything went smoothly until reconnecting the top valve which now leaks like a sieve. Seems the water is coming out of the valve itself control itself not the compression joint or the joint with the...

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

There are the proper pump valves installed already, so I am hoping it will be a fairly straightforward replacement job - no need to drain the system. Yes, I have bled the air out of the pump but that doesn't make any difference. I will give it a go this weekend and see what happens. If not...

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

Thanks for all the help, The instructions seem quite clear that it is preferable to mount the pump vertically. They do describe that if mounting horizontally then its necessary to be perfectly level or a slight slant in the upwards direction. See here for the instructions, point number 1...

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

@45yearsagasman Yep 22mm pipe. Basically everything is working fine, just a noisy pump. I hope it is a bearing, but I was a bit put off by the bold wording in the installation instructions regarding installation pumping downwards and the need for an effective air purger before the pump.

    Grundfos 15/60 Pumping Downwards

Sorry yes you are right, the vent over the domestic water tank comes from the top of the hot water cylinder  On the other hand that means there is no vent from the central heating, just expansion via the cold feed pipe from the small header tank.
