Fixed (temporarily). This switch wasn’t functioning properly. Had no resistance.
Switched the system off, gentle tap with a screwdriver, power on and it’s working.
I guess it needs replacing at some point.
Thanks for the help and advice.
Now you have pointed that out I vaguely recall the engineer mentioning something about the boiler had been always running and he tweaked a setting when I took out insurance. 12-18M ago.
Thanks for your help. I’ll call them out.
Hi
Setup is. : Vailant ecotect plus 630 / Tempest water tank / codice 542794 thermostat
The hot water has gone from hot to blazing. Ie too hot even for rubber washing up gloves.
From what I can determine the water temp is set by the thermostat which is attached to the water tank - codice...
Why the F... did I type TCR!? ..Yes I meant TRV's .. Got a pretty decent amount of pin back when I released them but I guess they could have been 80% closed and stuck.
Thanks
Have been doing my annual TCR pin checking project (must remember to leave them open in the Spring) and noticed a few valves which had pins stuck down but the rad was heating up fine.
Which seems the reverse of what I'd expect to happen, unless the internal parts of the valve are shot.
Thoughts?
well that escalated quickly.
fixed the isolation valve, eventually. involved a mad dash to screwfix, some cuprofit connectors & lots of swearing. Cant say they fill me w/ confidence but seem leak free at the moment. And after that it wasn't even that tap.
No closer to finding the mixer...
found my draining answer.

getting late so will look at this tomorrow
thanks for the advice so far guys
ps - i assume theres no risk here other than what i'be been seeing over the past few months with the hot side building pressure...
In trying to isolate one of the taps the isolation valve springs a leak.
Wondered if thats the faulty tap so building pressure behind the valve, ie the wrong side? or am I just getting crappy luck and have found another problem.
Regardless I thought I'd try and drain the pipes so I could...
16/17 YO system. In 2013 the recharge interval started to get very short, 1-2 months. Dripping from the tundish was the indicator. As per manual recharging the bubble fixed the problem.
This was also accompanied by a squeal from the prv.
Prv was replaced in August 2013 and then the...
Worked it out. The horizontal part has a nut part which can be un-done to release the water trough the hole.
Oh, and the water leak stopped after running the heating for a while ..
Plumbing and I don't get on .. Not sure I want to take on the fernox project now ..
Planning on how I was going to put some fernox into the system and closed / opened this valve yesterday. Its now started to leak (slowly) from the middle ..
Its circa 15 years old and probably never been touched. I've just switched the heating on to see if the magic heat application...
