Plaster cracks, or something more serious?

Thanks @23vc , that was what I thought. We have had some rain today and it's not got any bigger so presumably just a crack I've only just spotted today.

Plaster cracks, or something more serious?

Hi, Just spotted this in my daughters bedroom. From a distance you cannot see it, but up close you can. Both walls are external and up close the color of the paint appears the same. The temp (to touch) doesn't change between the crack and other part of the wall, and it's dry, not wet to touch...

Leak, mold, or just a stain?

Garage roof replaced 3 years ago and just wondering about this. I don't think it's changed in shape or size but any thoughts on if it's mold, a leak or staining? The pitch of the roof would run from the bottom of the picture to the top. We had a leak there before we replaced the roof and they...

    Woodworm in garage beams

That's interesting, thank you. So probably what I'm seeing in the parts treated is them leaving hence the new frass. Hopefully they are leaving the garage and I'll treat all the 4 beams over winter.

    Woodworm in garage beams

I'm presuming it's single skined, built in the 70s I think. The gutter does drip a little on the outside which I should be able to fix, just where two parts join together. Inside the roof looks fine and only replaced 3 years ago. There was a leak, hence the roof change, so perhaps they got in...

    Woodworm in garage beams

Thanks. I've got some sheets and cardboard under where I think it's happening and will keep an eye and probably give them a good covering in the winter months ahead of next Spring when I think they become more active again.

    Woodworm in garage beams

Hi, I've a garage that's in a block separate to the house. It's a flat roof and I've noticed woodworm in one of the beams. Upon looking, it appears to be in at least one other beam (2 affected, 2 not affected) and has likely been there a while (some of the beams look reinforced with other bits...

    Small gap between ridge tiles

Thanks, yes, its not the best picture, sorry. And yes, I think so. The loft space is dry and felt all looks dry.

    Small gap between ridge tiles

Hi, I noticed this gap between two ridge tiles. Thing is I've no idea how long it's been like that for. There is no water coming in the loft yet. The undersarking looks to be fairly sound in that part of the roof. Question: we've stong winds forecast (45mphs) and rain over the next 4 days. Are...

    Felt Lap Vents in Loft

I'm no expert but I've seen so many places recommending these and so few posts anout issues etc. I can only presume they are ok. Plus with lots of reputable places selling them. I've added 5 to my loft and as the slip between the felt, which didn't need prized open, I can't see the damage they...

    Getting loft condensation under control

Sorry, realise there is a forum for lofts but can't see how to delete this.

    Getting condensation under control

Hi, We moved into our property three years ago and over the last few winters noticed some condensation. There is only about 5 boxes in the loft and it's a 3 bed semi-dethatched. I think it's the old bitumen roof felt and built around 1980's. Inside humidity is usually mid 50's usually, and no...
