I know this is a bit basic, but how the hell do you use "plumber's mate" ie the putty stuff without getting into a complete mess - I just can't work it out. Once it gets warm it's impossible to use?

Found it on the web site under frequently asked questions.... How long do I need to leave Sentinel X300 in the system? Sentinel X300 should be circulated for 2-3hrs at operating temperature, or up to 24 hours if circulated cold….but no longer, and the system should be flushed with clean...

Not for the Cleaner - I'm sure it says not to leave it any longer. Anyway - whatever - good technical info on their site

Thanks lads - I'll leave it then. Good point about the pump over run - I hadn't thought of that (although I though the three way valve would stay open when the pump runs). Many thanks for all your help

Use Sentinel cleaners visit www.gebetz.com/sentinel - I've just done mine; I asked on this site whether I could leave the cleaner solution in longer than the 2 hours recoomended. I had replies saying it wouldn't matter - however when I visited the site above it said you MUST not. Best of luck

I'm still confused - why have a by-pass staight after the pump which leads back to the boiler before it gets to any of the electronic three way valves? Perhpas I should close it? Please help

yes it's working okay - but takes a long time to get hot. But if the boiler is feeding hot water directly back in the return, then it not going to the rads? and the boier will think it's up to temp? Am I missing something?

Please can someone help. My central heating system is open vented, but just above the boiler where the pump is, I have a return pipe just after the pump which feeds back into the returning water from the radiators. There is a gate valve in the pipe which is partially open - should it be? and...

I'm about to replace a radiator with a new one and I guess need to flush the system afterwards with Sentinel 300 for new systems. My question is having read the instructions is that it says leave in for at least one hour preferably with a warm system - but can I leave it in for even longer say...
