    Clutch Master

took it to a clutch specialist today. pretty much instantly he guessed that a sleeve in the assembly was missing, an inspection by him confirmed it. told me that he couldn't get the sleeve on it's own and a whole new assembly and labour would cost about 300 quid! will take it back to the guy...

thanks for your reply! so, side-to-side play would fail an m.o.t., yeah, i'd imagine it would. i've just got the address of a god clutch specialist in gt. yarmouth. will go see them this week. i'll post back anything of interest. cheers.

    Clutch Master

hi all, i own a w reg ford focus estate. for a while i've been having "wobbly clutch" problems. first the piston going into the master cylinder snapped, had it replaced, no problem. about a year later, the master cylinder gave up the ghost. the pedal began to wobble from side to side...

brilliant bonesy, thanks for that! thanks to all who contributed. this forum really is the nuts.

    High Pressure!

ta for the reply leaky. as posted above it really only goes form 1.3 bar up to 2.0. so you think i'm panicking unduly?

    High Pressure!

hi pete, thanks a lot for your reply. yeah, the usual recommended cold standing pressure is about 1.3 bar. right now, and t'heatings been on for about two hours it's reading 2 .0 bar. so you wouldn't see this as a problem then? nothing to worry about?

    High Pressure!

hi all, the fine people on this forum have proved to be both wise and generous with their time before so i'll ask another question if i may. the pressure on my boiler seems to be slowly creeping up. firstly, a question out of interest; is this a result of using the heating a lot over...

Hot water and Central Heating off, Radiator still on!

i was reading last night about the lockshield valve and for an experiment decided to try shutting down the 'rogue' radiator to see what that would achieve. well, no water is going into the radiator and this seems to have set everything straight. no firing up in the night, no cooling of hot...

Hot water and Central Heating off, Radiator still on!

yes. boiler fires when ch and hw are switched off. not sure. when you say "valves getting hot" do you mean the pipes above and below them? currently, i've just closed the lockshield valve on the rogue radiator. will see what effect that has.

Hot water and Central Heating off, Radiator still on!

it's looking like two faulty valves do you think?

Hot water and Central Heating off, Radiator still on!

would also like to add that the boiler has trouble maintaining optimum pressure according to the gauge.

Hot water and Central Heating off, Radiator still on!

thanks a lot for that softus. ok, seems both sides of the valve are hot. so yeah, it would seem that the valve is open. i've spotted the little 'lever' that is meant to move and this does seem to function properly when the ch is turned on/off. it is the case that the boiler is lighting...
