    Removing solder fittings

Yes, I always try to heat evenly all around the pipe. Still the pipe seems to bind and will not move any further. The pipe must get hot enough as I have had nearby joints come loose instead to the fitting I want to remove. I always deburr and clean inside and out of joints so the problem cannot...

    Removing solder fittings

Been doing a bit of plumbing work lately and have come across a reoccuring problem three times. A few times I have soldered an incorrect fitting to a run of copper pipe. I try to remove the fitting by reheating, the solder melts and I pull on the fitting but the fitting jams and will not budge...

Advice needed on new plumbing work

Just completed my first ever soldering plumbing job and pretty pleased with the result. However, I am getting a little paranoid about if I have deburred the pipes correctly or not. I used a deburring tool as pictured below and counted 8 revolutions on each end of each pipe, I think I may have...

    Drywall Battens

Many thanks for the advise. I will do just that. I assume any gap of around 15mm at the edge is nothing to worry about then? It is as close as I can drill a batten to the wall.

    Fixing battening to wall

I need to fix some 3x2" battening to a solid wall (3 inch protruding from the wall). I was planning to use 8x120 frame fixings and reckon that this would give me around 46-50mm in the wall after countersinking. Is this satisfactory? Or should I go as deep as 10x135? Also if the 120 depth is ok...

Building out wall to hide pipes

I have a solid block wall 900mm in width with a sink on it and all pipes are revealed. I am doing up the room and would like to conceal these pipes. I was planning to build out the wall by 3 inches, which will cover all excisting pipwork. My plan for doing this was to use 3.5" by 1.5" studwork...

    Height of stove flue?

We have an existing gas stove with a balanced flue through the wall. We would like to upgrade this to a log burning stove with a piped flue. My question is how high would this piped flue approximately need to be? I have looked at building regs documentation, but found this confusing. Anyone have...
