Sorry, there is probably already a guide on here for this, but I can't find it. I am needing to remove a ring main socket and for aesthetic purposes I can't use a blanking plate. I understand I can't leave live wires in the wall. So what would be the correct procedure/route for channeling wires to bridge to the next socket?

Many thanks,

Josh

Is there another socket outlet horizontal or vertical of the one you want to remove? If there is then you could remove the s/o, crimps the cables and cover. The diagram below shows the safe zones.

If you end up doing this then the cable must remain in a safe zone shown on the diagram.

The problem with that is that the cables probably run down from the existing socket to the floor, which would be outside a safe zone when the socket is removed.

If you have a wooden floor, simply pull the cables back down under the floor, crimp and enclose in some sort of enclosure.

Or replace the two cables with a single piece linking the sockets either side of the removed one...
