    Window fan in velux window

the easiest route is through the wall as normal. If masonry, drill a hole, if timber frame, even easier to cut through. As velux's generally face skywards, won't you just be creating a hole for water to come through the fans grill? Hi Deluks, Its a loft conversion with no external...

venting a fan through the roof

Has anyone vented a bathroom fan through a tiled roof? If so has there been any problems from the following and how do you avoid them. i) Condensation running rom the outlet in the roof, back along the pipe to the fan and accumulating in the pipe....I've heard of lagging the pipe, but how...

ventilation of shower room with opening window

OK, no problem... A fan might end up easiest, but I'll look into the document tkmax posted...and maybe ask more in a few days. Luckily there is no rush on this...it doesn't need doing until we sell, which will probably be a while. John H.

ventilation of shower room with opening window

Thanks, before the fan is used it might be best to check on this more....the velux is high up almost right at the top of the slope...it has a vent, but maybe not enough area. What area is needed?, is it just a vent or something more complicated to constitute a passive system...it sounds daft...

ventilation of shower room with opening window

....So can we presume a passive system could be used....can a room already in the roofspace be turned into a passive system (for purpose of building regs) by ammending a velux window? Or does the window already count? John H.

ventilation of shower room with opening window

The wetroom is part of a loft conversion, (in the roof) and the top of the velux window has a vent, pretty much at the top of the room, so can it be argued with building regs that it is a passive system?? John H.

ventilation of shower room with opening window

Maybe with some weather cowl which some companies make to fit their products. Could you also say more about the passive stack system please. Also this http://www.planningportal.gov.uk/uploads/br/BR_PDF_ADF_2010.pdf is on the web...just noticed today... in section 7...(7.12 - 7.15) pg...

    Window fan in velux window

The most attractive will probably be the Manrose WF100T 163mm square, but it is suitable for single glazing... would you recommend doing a single glazed 8mm sheet with some 16mm plywood or mdf on the inside, just around the edge but out of sight, to make up to the 24mm of a velux. (I have in...

ventilation of shower room with opening window

Thanks everyone...this discussion might be carried on in the 'loft conversions section as well' as I'm guessing the moderators would prefer it there. Presumably a glazier could provide the right velux double glazed unit with the hole in it....do you mean Freddy, that the hole would be sealed...

    Window fan in velux window

It's a long story but we have a loft conversion, finished but not passed by building regs as they require a fan 15L/s with 15min over-run. Rather than cause loads more disruption we've decided the easiest route is through a velux window...any advice please on.... i) The best type of fan...

ventilation of shower room with opening window

The loft conversion is a good one, this is the only requirement left to fulfill... Any advice on a window fan for a velux window? John H.

ventilation of shower room with opening window

Hi, Can anyone help please.....we have finished a loft conversion with a shower room which has quite a large opening velux window. The building regs people won't pass it as they insist on a fan 15L/S...we didn't put one in as we presumed it wouldn't be needed. It is Kirklees...

    Extractor fan through roof...

Andy, There isn't a flat roof,or dormer! Anyone used the SRV 10U ? John H.

    Extractor fan through roof...

From all the advice so far it seems best to go through the roof, it's not really practical any other way apart from the window. It's a terraced house and the shower room has built in cupboards in the space between the shower room and the side nearest an outside wall, which make it...
