    Landscaper or Builder?

There's a drainage ditch running along the boundary of my front garden with my driveway crossing over it into the garden. I'm now thinking of getting the driveway across the drainage ditch widened, a retaining wall built along the length of the drainage ditch and the embankment levelled. Left...

    Cavity Wall Insulation

I'm looking for guidance on finding a reputable cavity wall insulation company. I live in the Hampshire area and have contacted a number of companies including a Hampshire based company which has the highest rating on Checkatrade. However, this company turned out to be (in my opinion) a complete...

Breeze Block Outline Appears Through Painted Wall

Actually I'm beginning to doubt now whether the cavities actuall contain insulation or if it was just me that assumed they did because the house was built in 1993. This is something I need to investigate further because if the builder just used thermal breeze blocks and no cavity insulation then...

Breeze Block Outline Appears Through Painted Wall

Many thanks for the quick advice. Just wondering if a less porous oil based paint would be better than an emulsion.

Breeze Block Outline Appears Through Painted Wall

I did a bit of research and it looks like this is 'Pattern Staining' where very fine dust particles collect on the markedly cooler surfaces where the mortar acts as a thermal bridge between the cold cavity and the room. The cavities have insulation, but I guess the problem is that the sun...

Breeze Block Outline Appears Through Painted Wall

All our inside walls are painted white and on the east facing side of the house you can see shadows in the paint which look like the breeze block outlines. We sealed the plaster with unibond, used a good undercoat and no matter how many top coats we apply the shadows always seem to return after...

Poor Flow Through Upstairs Shower and Taps

We've recently had a new thermostatic shower fitted and flow of the new shower is poor compared to the old shower. I don't know if its related in any way, but the flow through all our upstairs hot taps is quite poor now. When you turn on the hot bath tap (for example), the flow is ok for about...

I got a bang in my airing cupboard ?

When I had that it was the safety valve in the overflow to the central heating header tank (located in the loft over the airing cupboard) opening to release the access pressure. In my case the pump was still working but it was not working sufficiently well to get the water efficiently round the...

    New Shower Flow Much Reduced

The supplier described it as a high performance thermostatic shower mixer supplied by Claygate. Looking at the Claygate website it looks very similar to the "Hudson Reed Minimalist Thermostatic Bar Valve LP2". Yes, the shower head was changed too.

    New Shower Flow Much Reduced

We've just had a new thermostatic shower supplied and fitted by a local company. We have a gravity fed system and our old thermostatic (Aqualisa) shower had an extremely good flow rate. We were informed in advance that the new shower would have a slightly reduced flow compared to our old shower...

    Vectra fault code

In case it helps anyone, loading new PCM software did NOT fix the problem, but fitting a new throttle body unit seems to have done the trick.

    Vectra fault code

I don't know anything about cars, but I did a search for this code because my local garage tells me this is reason why my light is also coming on. According to my garage there's updated engine management software available from Vauxhall that fixes this problem. Anyway, my car's booked in for Monday.

    Dismantling Shower Light Fitting?

Thanks all for the advise. The reason why this can't be accessed from above is because the transformer is located inside a suspended ceiling. Happy new year!

    Dismantling Shower Light Fitting?

Does anyone know how to dismantle the combined shower light/vent fitting shown below in order to access the transformer (for the light) which needs replacing? Thanks.

    Shower Unit Question

Thanks Bahco. I did try showerdoc, but in the end I got a response from AQUALISA. They indicated the model, the spare part I needed and how to remove it from the wall. Anyway, let's see what happens when the spare part arrives. Once again, thanks.
