    extending toilet waste outlet

If I turn it around, then I'll be trying to stuff the rubber gasket end into the macerator, which already has a rubber gasket in it. Do I remove the one of the connector? If that's the case, it makes a bit more sense now! Really appreciate your help! jon

    extending toilet waste outlet

I bought one of those from Wickes, and it was wrong, hence me thinking i didn't know what i needed. See Wickes extender The rubber gasket seal is too large to fit in the toilet pan connector, The other end is ok that goes into the macerator. Did I buy the wrong thing, or do they come...

Hello I'm fitting a toilet into a newly converted downstairs loo. See photo here PICTURE OF TOILET The wall the toilet is up against is a false wall, with the macerator behind it. I have yet to cut the hole in the wall, but as you can see, the outlet on rear of toilet will not...

    Re-lining chimney

It cost me £300 all in to have it lined with gas flue pipe, and quote approx £800+ to have it lined again for a stove = AT LEAST £500 more expensive, unless you can point out a fault in my maths? I know the material is more expensive, i've looked at enough websites.... for example: 5" gas...

    Mantel for multifuel stove

You see many installation with solid wood mantels. I guessed the reason MDF is no good is because it is a composite of glue and wood dust, and the glue would heat up, smell, and the overall structure would deform? Is solid wood ok, as long as it has sufficient clearance around the stove (I...

    Re-lining chimney

I was told by the fireplace shop (Artisan, Brighouse) that it may cost around £800. I was not, as you can imagine, 'pleasantly' surprised with this figure! I had it lined 4 years ago with class 2 for my gas fire, materials and labour inc £300. I've checked the prices online for the liner...

    Mantel for multifuel stove

Hello, I'm having a multifuel stove fitted, but the mantelpiece which was installed as part of a package deal with my current open gas fire is veneered MDF, which I know is not suitable for the heat the stove will throw out. I cannot afford a marble or stone mantel, is a solid wood mantel...

    Re-lining chimney

Hello, My chimney is currently lined with a class 2 liner for my gas fire. I am hoping to have a multifuel stove installed. I am purchasing the new liner and installing it myself as I do not want to pay £stupid. I am aware that I need to notify someone, but who, and how, and what's it...

40mm PVC waste to cast iron

i'll re-read the instructions, I may have misinterpreted them. To help illustrate, here is a picture of the installation: http://db.tt/49vd0l6 The toilet is going where you see the cat's litter box. A trap door to the left of the image closes to create a full floor. If I am wrong and...

    Soot troden into carpet

If it's 100% spun polyester fibre carpet, as most are nowadays, then a mild solution of Stardrops cleaner and bleach will do it. "Bleach" you say....polyester carpets are plastic, you can't bleach the colour from it any more than you could from a plastic washing up bowl! Jon

40mm PVC waste to cast iron

Hello, I am plumbing in a new downstairs loo using a macerator. I have four questions: 1) The PVC 40mm pipe needs to connect with a cast iron soil stack. I have the tools (hole cutter, boss strap, 40mm adapter), question is what's the best substance to use as a gasket sealant between...
