On only it's 2nd day of use I have managed to break the starter cord on my brand new Champion petrol mower! I had some issues getting it started on the first day of use, so the stater cord saw a lot of use. I still did not expect it to shred and then snap so soon, you would think it would be...

It is a old stripped pine door - I tried to use a metal brachet as a spacer but it did not help. I will have a go with some filler & some longer screws. Thanks

Fitting a door hinge .... with my 'let’s crack on beginners basics' :oops: I have been over zealous with my chisel and chopped out too deep a hole to sit the hinge in. As I have already planed the door to the right size, what can I do to fill out the hole & position the hinge correctly...

Looking to wall-paper my bedroom this Bank Holiday weekend - have already stripped all the old paper off (bye bye purple walls & silver swirls!) - the walls are not too bad but have been told by a mate that if I want a good finish I should cover the walls in lining paper before wall papering...

I picked up some radiator enamel paint at the weekend to tackle the same problem in my bathroom. Also got a few scratched rads arpind the house that could do with touching up. I will post again after I have done the job.

Yeah both mice and rats go mad for chocolate - I had lots of success with plain cooking chocolate back in my student days when living in a, shall I say less than desirable abode.

Anyone got more info on this? I have a large ball patch on my lawn - at first it was just moss that took over from the grass, the moss was then picked away by a very industrious blackbird and I have now been left with a bald /patchy area of about 2 by 3 feet.

The upright supports are secured to the joists that sit directly above the bearing walls below. I was pleased with this as I felt that no weight would be on joists that run over bedroom ceilings - also it seems to me that the weight is shared between the cross beams and the joists below.

Cheers for the tip - I will give it a go. I have some tar marks on my other car anyway so it would be worth getting! :wink:

Looks like I won't have to wait too long with all this predicted snow on its way! I had a go at removing the glue first with soapy warm water & then with nail varnish remover but with no success so far.

I have managed to get superglue on the paintwork of my Golf - I was using to stick back on a fairing strip. :roll: Anyone got any ideas on how I will be able to remove it? It covers a couple of inches in diameter and because the car is black the white glue really shows up. Thanks
