semantics - if a lodger is made homeless, then they go up the priority list for housing support. some would argue that lodgers are more vulnerable due to the ease of eviction. either way, it’s a moot point, because the council isn’t obliged to help in this situation.

You gotta help yourself then mate…the council won’t do it if you have the means to help yourself but choose not to. Sorry, sounds harsh, but it’s the reality of the situation.

I’m not sure how much it matters what the wording of the situation is…but ultimately the council/CAB will advise you what to do in order to get yourself in line for emergency support.

Depends how much you’ve got I guess? Withdraw it in cash to buy a car, or a holiday or gamble it away, lose it in a romance scam…obviously don’t actually do those things but money is easily ‘lost’.
