    Drilling into VERY HARD concrete

Dewalt extreme drill bits are my preferred drill bits. Can we see the top of your drill to see what settings you’ve got it on please? I lent my mate my cordless drill and new drill bits so he could hang a hanging basket - got a call saying how ****e my drill was and the he couldn’t make a hole...

    Drilling into VERY HARD concrete

6mm diameter hole 30 mm deep? You sure your hammer action is working? Is it a new masonry drill bit?? Post a picture of your drill and drill bit. Sds?!? Come on guys. Even a ryobi cordless drill should manage that…

    Fixing plasterboard to steel beam?

Drill bits are really hard work, need to go slow and use cutting compound. Honestly, just get the screw and an impact driver…no pilot hole needed.

    Fixing plasterboard to steel beam?

To be fair, I used those screws (with the star heads not the nuts) and my impact driver - went into my UB no bother without pre-drilling.

What have you been doing today?

Nothing for you to be sorry about Conny. As you say, hope you can make the most of your time and I sincerely hope their prognosis is wrong. Wishing you all the very best.

Anyone Ever Met Someone From A Forum?

Actually I've met a few folks from Pistonheads forums at Trackdays too. If any DIYnot'ers visit Liverpool, I'll quite happily buy you a coffee.

Anyone Ever Met Someone From A Forum?

I'm on a fish forum for my marine fish tank. Regularly meet folks to buy/sell/swap fish/coral/equipment. All nice folks.

    BBC logic

Insurers must guarantee their repairs and use new OEM parts, hence the needed for approved repairers where cost of repairs are higher than a repairer that isn’t bound by those requirements. A car kept off the street, or in a garage, will have less chance of damage or theft…so would be lower risk.

    BBC logic

Knock for knock has not been practiced for a number of years now. Most of the time the insurer of the non-at-fault motorist will extort as much money as they can from the at fault insurer…as the next time when the roles are reversed they other insurer will do the same. 50:50 claims are more...

    BBC logic

I've worked in insurance for best part of 25 years now. The co's I worked for never priced on race/religion. There is no financial advantage for doing so. The pricing models of insurance companies are very sophisticated and take in hundreds of risk factors based on the quote details submitted...

Months Of DIY Work Destroyed In 2 Days...

Ok, but it would have taken a very high degree of skill to get that corner (with your square on it) to be >10mm out of square and still maintain a relatively flat surface with multi finish. Similarly, you can see very straight angles /lines where the PB joints are, that look like they’re not...

Months Of DIY Work Destroyed In 2 Days...

Looking at some of those pictures I think the plasterboard can’t have been straight/level/flush before any plaster hit those walls…

Well, my kitchen refit has ground to a halt before it’s even started! Suggestions?

Units 2118mm including the legs? Couldn’t you just fit smaller legs or a couple of blocks of wood underneath instead to reduce the units on that side by 20mm?

    Beautiful Cars

Your wish is my command :) Although I am quite fond of how the old Grantura looks as well. Hopefully 2024 is the year I’ll finally get that one back on the road fully.

PWA and the 6m / 45 degree rule

Thanks Woody. I noticed the same when I read the details of the act, there was a focus on the excavation so I think it would be a technical point to consider whether piling was excavation or not. The only diagrams I can find regarding the PWA and piles are those where the new building is piled...
