    Installing Celotex PL4000

Hello, The third bedroom of our home is quite cold, it has 3 external walls and two windows. It's a 1930s house with solid walls and as it needs some wiring and redecorating I'm going to take the opportunity to improve the insulation to the external walls with Celotex PL4000. Firstly, should I...

    Pointing Indian Sandstone

Unfortunately, if you want it to last, take it up and do it again, at least the slabs that have any movement. Prime the slabs before laying them to ensure good adhesion. Use slurry pointing which will flow into any little voids and give the slabs as much support as possible.

If there's any movement in the slabs then pointing is a waste of time, it will crack and loosen with use and will eventually fail.

    Faulty PRV? (wb 37cdi combi)

I think the prv was stuck open. I've reset it and it appears to be ok now. I will keep an eye on it and if it happens again I will call someone in. Many thanks

    Faulty PRV? (wb 37cdi combi)

Hello all, My in-laws boiler shut down today, no hot water from taps or CH, error code E9 which is overtemp I think. Pressure gauge is zero, tried refilling but the gauge only shows a slight increase and then the water just flows out of the copper pipe on the outside wall. Am I right in...

    House rewired, no certificates.

Indemnity will only be bought if their solicitor tells ours they want one. We're aware we might be in for some haggling over price, if they want to start that. I'm quietly confident there's nothing majorly wrong anywhere. Watch this space, I will report back.

    House rewired, no certificates.

Solicitor quoted the £16 when I asked for advice on this. We'll go down that route and see what happens. If they want an inspection doing I will get one done.

    House rewired, no certificates.

To be honest I'm less worried about the buyers, more so their mortgage lender throwing a hissy fit. I agree indemnity policy is pointless, but it's £16, if they must.

I think he might have been trying to suggest a way out. I hope. Lol

    House rewired, no certificates.

Well, we moved into the property in 2010. And I've already told the buyers it was rewired, before I discovered this issue.

    House rewired, no certificates.

Actually I think they were pinched from a small consumer unit that was there already, installed not long before, to run supplies to council fitted oven and shower, which we ripped out when we moved in. We gutted the place and plumber and electrician had an empty, stripped and chased house to...

Ah, yeah they are. Not sure why not dual RCDs, it was explained at the time I remember that.

    House rewired, no certificates.

Hello all, Having a bit of a dilemna at the moment. We're selling our house (2 bed terrace) just now, or rather have sold it, subject to contract. It was rewired about 5 years ago, we haven't got certificates for it, back then I don't think I understood that we should get any. I know better now...

    decent turf and typical cost

Rolawn comes down a lot in price when you buy a decent number of rolls. It is worth buying a good turf like that, rather than the £2.50 stuff from the garden centre. The difference in weed content alone is massive. I've done both. I contributed to a lawn reno thread at some point, it'll be in...
