    Caravan CU

Eric, I did do a few searchs regarding caravan CU's but didn't find much. Anything I did find was, well... very expensive. if you could point out a couple you've found I'd be greatful. The Van was supposed to be a cheap get away so far we could have had two weeks in Greece and spending money...

    Caravan CU

Thanks for all the replies, it's been an interesting read. At some point i'll study it very carefully and make a call on what to do. For this year, mostly because i've run out of money to spend on the damn thing i'm just going to wire it up internally to a household 13Amp RCD and take a...

Just the amps, probably be either 80 or 100, if it's 80 then personally i can't see an issue as if you are using 80 amps you'll be blowing the master. I think really you're getting above my skill level you would really need to talk to someone who knows more about this than me. Hope i've been...

Check you master fuse from the electricity company. I would find it hard to think that you could pull 80 amps on that RCD but I guess it is possible. You can match more MCB's than the RCD can take as long as your not pulling the full amount from each. As you can put more than 100 amps of MCB...

Check the RCD value make sure that it's not too low. Firstly i'm not a electrician. Take from that what you will. However I spoke to several electricitans when installing my shower last year and they all gave me a different story as to what I could and should do. In the end I installed a...

6mm cable again would be very much on the cusp. It would make sense to add a larger cable when installing rather than having to re do it in a year or two when the shower blows up so yep 10mm cable would be best. Just something to think about i've seen a few instances of people replacing their...

Only thing purchased so far is a 400/800w heater. I'm assuming things like toaster/kettle but probably not at the same time. I'm more and more tempted to go for 12V lighting rather than a mix just in case we go off track. I'm thinking about hooking something up that allows us mains even...

[/url] Seems a little on the tight side 9500watts over 230V is over 41Amps. Remember to make sure your cable can handle the current.

Who's caravan it is, is still irrelivent unless i'm doing it for reward then :) A better question would be am i doing this for reward. Ok let me turn this round a bit. Your designing an installation for said caravan what would you install?

Yes Yes, I'll simply say that I feel i'm more competent than every electrician i've ever employed. I will not attempt a project that I don't feel I couldn't handle and make sure i fully understand what i'm doing before attempting it. If you can let me know one reason why it's important...

There is nothing in the van now. Because it's a tourer and may be used on the continent they don't have the same rules regarding polarity so in order to make extra safe you use double pole.

maguire It's a tourer so any hook up will/should already be protected by a 16amp RCBO or likewise. I've checked TLC and they don't seem to have many DP breakers. ricicle I'm not going to get involved in another conversation about competency. Who owns the van is irrelivent!

Hi guys i'm wondering where i can get double pole MCB's for a caravan install? Preferably with some very low breaking amps, 1, 3 , 6, 10. Also what about using an RCD as the isolating switch due to space issues?
